First Tooth!

My baby Lauren’s first tooth broke on through yesterday - bottom front left. She’ll be six months old tomorrow (although all week I’ve been thinking the 9th was Friday). Can’t believe she’s growing up so fast!

Anyway, curious approximate how long until the other front teeth make an appearance? And, for recording purposes, did you mark the day the tooth just broke through the gum or wait until it was fully emerged?

And, because I just can’t resist sharing my giggling girl…

GREAT JEHOSAPHAT! WARN A GIRL WHEN THERE’S SOUND, MMM’KAY? heart pounding

Cute kid. Great giggle.

I count the first visible hard whiteness as “tooth”. We’re still waiting with WhyBaby - 13 months. (Or is it 9 months? this preemie thing is confusing.) Hasn’t stopped her from eating all sorts of chewable things like chicken and cheese cubes, though.

IIRC, you can expect the other bottom one within a month or so, and the tops probably within 2 months. Then they look like little Jack-o-lanterns!

My apologies! It’s a video clip with sound, y’all. Didn’t mean to scare anyone :o

You mark the day it breaks through the skin.

And then when she loses them you save 'em all like I did. In a Hello Kitty container. And then you photograph them and send them to the inlaws 30 years later. Honest.

Kalhoun: This reminds me of when I was about eight, snooping through my mother’s jewelry box. I found this small white container and opened it to find fangs! My mom had saved all our teeth - including the ones we had pulled (“the fangs”). I wasn’t quite sure what to make of it at the time.

Aww she’s beautiful. Those johnny jumps are great, aren’t they?

Isabella got her first two bottom teeth within a week from each other, and I count from when they first break the skin. She was around six months old.

She didn’t get another for a few months. I believe by the time she was one year old she had six, and now at fourteen months she has eight.

Annnnd…here’s a fairly good shot of her chompers.

Love that jumper. She’s just thrilled to be in there.

I loved Isabella’s pictures - great teeth and great hair! Beautiful name too.

You probably haven’t experienced baby’s first chomp, then? In my experience, they wait until they’ve got two on the top and two on the bottom before they try to see what happens when they bite down HARD on mom or dad.

Oh, yeah. They’re carnivorous.

That was the CUTEST baby video! You have made my morning so much brighter. I was sitting with my nine year old in the doctor’s waiting room today, feeling exhausted because he was sick last night, and was wondering how I did it all, day in, day out all those years ago. And my boobies tingled regretfully. I would love another baby but not all the work that goes into them. On the other hand, one more video like that and my resolve may waver…

My first son (the sick one) got his first tooth on exactly his six month birthday. My second son got his at roughly six months, but it appeared on New Year’s Day, which in Japan is a good luck day. The first sunrise of the year is “Hatsu Hi (Sun) No De” but my son had “Hatsu HA (tooth) No De!”

Thanks  When I’m tired and not feeling great, I look through her pictures and video clips. There are definitely many more good days than bad. In fact, every time she outgrows some of her little baby clothes and I pack them away, I start to question our decision to only have one.

And tooth number two made it’s appearance yesterday
