First trailer for "Sully"--Miracle on the Hudson movie

It’s a Clint Eastwood movie. I don’t think he has ever cared about things like that. He makes movies that interest him and his track record gives him the ability to get them done.

What about a Tetris trilogy?

They’re going to fill in the time with the backstory of the birds, ruthlessly slaughtered by a fanatical pilot trying to set a cross country record in a new jet.

It will be just like a reboot of Titanic from the iceberg’s POV.

I’ve seen Captain Sullenberger speak at least twice and I won’t be seeing this film.?

Capt. Sully is well known for his outright refusal to go down to quarries and throw things.

He also says, “Roger” instead of, “Aye”.

This time, played by Angie Dickinson.

Did Peter Jackson direct it?

The first movie is really slow but the pace picks up considerably by the finale.

My worry is that any movie with Tom Hanks in it as a captain will be full of made-up incidents. Captain Phillips was, according to the other crew members of the ship, very inaccurate. I don’t know of any reason that Sully would be similarly wrong, but casting Hanks isn’t a good idea, I think. Hanks needs to play some villains and not just heroes:

No human fatalities, but there were several injuries, one of them fairly serious (IIRC, a flight attendant had a cut on her thigh that went all the way to the bone, and had some long-term nerve damage).

He did. It didn’t do especially well at the box office.

Neither did THE LADYKILLERS.

How was she injured? Where do flight attendants shelter for emergencies?

Not sure about the cause of injury, but the attendants would most likely be sitting on jump seats at the front and rear of the cabin.

I saw “Captain Phillips” on DVD. It was very good, but I don’t think it was in wide release. One of the Somali actors was nominated for an Oscar, and deservedly so. It just wasn’t the type of movie that would be a box-office hit, and I’ve seen it on my local TV listings.

Unless it turns out that Sully got bitten by a radioactive spider or exposed to gamma rays that make him a rage monster, I can’t see how this movie will be watchable in the least. Pass.

$5 says they make up 50% of the shit in the film.

Captain Phillips earned $218 million against a $55 million budget. It’s not Titanic, but it was a certified hit.

Of course it was in wide release. It was a movie starring Tom Hanks. It opened on 3,020 screens in the U.S. and it was a moderately big hit although not quite a blockbuster:

All you have to do to look up how much money a movie cost and how much it made is to go to the webpage about the movie on the Internet Movie Database, go down to the section called “Box Office”, and click on that.

Had “Captain Phillips” been made 20 years earlier, it would quite likely have been a made-for-TV docudrama with a title like “The Captain Phillips Story”. Ditto the “Sully” picture.
