"First unread post" from search page?

When I want to keep up with threads I participate in, I do a board search under my name, then open all the threads that have had a post. Then, once the page is loaded, I hit ‘go to first unread post’, which works about 75% of the time for me.

One problem is that in a multi-page thread, I load the first page which is totally unnecesary. Since I assume a lot of people use this method to keep up with their posts, that’s wasted bandwidth for an already strained server.

So I was thinking it might be possible to integrate an automatic ‘go to first unread post’ link from the search menu - not in place of the current link, but in addition to it. It’d save lots of people a little bit of effort, and the server a bit of bandwidth.

So your path is Search Page > Search Results > Thread > Go To First Unread Post?

Try this instead: when you get the Search Results page, the threads with new posts to it will have the yellow, down-pointing triangle icon to the left of the thread title. Clicking that triangle will take you to the new posts in that thread.
