I saw a few minute of the classic 1954 drama “Dragnet,” and in one of the scenes, Sgt Friday is chiding his partner for having eaten “fish and ice cream” for lunch, because “that’s one of the worst things you can eat.”
That reminded me that (when I was a kid), I had heard that “fish and milk” at the same meal were bad. (Even as a kid, I didn’t buy it.)
So, has anyone ever heard this, and what was supposed to be so bad about it?
Not only have I never heard that, I’m surprised to hear it. My mom used to drench fish (usually cod) in milk before baking to get rid of the “fishy” flavor/odor.

“Middle Eastern Muslims, in turn, reject dietary combinations of fish and milk – yet fish and milk dishes are desirable within Judaism. These acceptable and forbidden patterns of mixing foods clearly have separated Jews and Muslims in the Middle East since at least since the 7th century A.D. when Muslim forces invaded and occupied the lands of ancient Palestine. Since that time, the meat/milk and fish/milk prohibitions have served as ethnic markers, and as a clear means of religious and cultural separation (Grivetti, 1975, 1980).”

So Jack Webb was a Muslim?
I dunno.
Maybe his mom shopped at the muslim meat market. That would explain the dislike for being called pig.
Wow, I hope Jack Webb stayed out of New England.
If he called for his clam (or cod) chowder with tomatoes instead of milk, those Down Easters would’ve whacked him with a beanpot.
