Fish ID

Sorry, I don’t have much to go on. I was watching TV the other night, I don’t remember which channel, and there was a preview showing a guy catching a fearsome-looking, dark-greenish fish. It had an ogive-shaped head, and single rows of conical teeth that seemed to be at least an inch long. The teeth looked like they would not be out of place in a T. rex. The angler caught the fish on a line, but I don’t know where. I’m guessing it was a freshwater fish. The animal looked to be about three or four feet long.

Any idea what kind of fish I saw?

Goliath tigerfish? Business end!

CMC fnord!

A Golden Dorado maybe?

Gar? Muskie?

What’s a ogive-shaped head?

That’s it! Thanks.

In this case, shaped like the nose cone of a missile.

I don’t know what fish it was, but the show was probably River Monsters from either Animal Planet, or Discovery.

How big was it? Do you know where it was from?

Muskies, pike, pickerel and walleye are greenish and are torpedo shaped with teeth.

But I change my guess to some sort of snakehead. They have teeth and come in different colors (and finally a greenerone).

Definitely the goliath tigerfish, and crowmanyclouds’s link is to the show whose promo I saw.

Thanks, all.
