I’m trying more and more to get into a “functional / minimalistic” fitness plan. All the exercise activities I do must be simple, and have a minimal amount of equipment. Ideally all I want to use is my body. So hence I have explored Yoga for the past four months, and just began kettlebells.
Due to scheduling, I’ve mostly ended up doing Yin Yoga with the occasional Hatha/Flow/Gentle class in the mix. I usually go 2-3 times a week. I love the feeling of a good Yin session. My body just feels so good, like it’s released all the toxins. Stress melts away. I love it. It may not get my heart rate up but it’s a whole new form of anxiety / stress management for me. I’m getting deeper into the poses. I hope in the next six months my heels will finally touch the floor in downward dog.
I just started a kettlebell routine. I felt worked out after doing my set. So I hope it pays off! It’s supposed to be strength and cardiovasuclar. I supplement with push ups as well.
I would go running but it’s minus 25 celsius and I’m done with running in the cold! I also would like to try jump rope but the ceiling in my apartment is too low.
Hope I can get some mild muscle tone from my new routine.
