Five famous folks are coming for dinner, but there is a catch

Shit, I missed Djawadi. I’m a huge fan of his work - his soundtracks for GoT, PoI, Westworld and especially Pacific Rim are amazing. I’d take him over Grylls, if you hadn’t already called dibs.

BTW, I think it’s funny that neither of us wanted DiCaprio.

For the sake of completion, the year is 1952.

mmm

1961

Barack Obama
Boy George
Dennis Rodman
Ricky Gervais
Julia Louis-Dreyfus

I’d serve them my homemade chili and watch them go nuts.

I like this wrinkle.

My YANI* list:

  • Betsy DeVos
  • Thomas Kinkade
  • Alec Baldwin
  • Jeff Foxworthy
  • Rick Santorum

*You Are Not Invited

mmm

1963

  • Dave Foley (Kids in the Hall)
  • Quentin Tarantino
  • Jet Li
  • Michael Jordan
  • Ming-Na Wen

I would totally eat at a restaurant called The Mustard House. Just sayin’.

Maybe as an addition to the Mustard Museum.

Ditto, I have those soundtracks plus a few others. And no, I’m not trading, keep your TV survivalist!

DiCaprio is … fine. I don’t dislike him, and own several DVDs in which he features. And his political and environmental efforts are admirable. But I was leaning more into the quirky or slightly insane already, and Christian Bale is a better match. Plus, I love some of Bale’s failures (Reign of Fire, Equilibrium) and want to watch or talk about those.

My 1953 YANI list:

Hulk Hogan
Xi Jinping
Dennis Miller
Elaine Chao
David Berkowitz

I was born in 1967.

Kurt Cobain
Layne Staley
Kristen Pfaff
Scott Weiland
Anton Newcombe

I won’t need to cook. Just a big pile of heroin, some instruments and recording equipment.

Another 1952 list:

George Strait
Christopher Reeve (pre accident, please!)
John Goodman
Mandy Patinkin
Patrick Swayze

All people whose works I admire.

Mr. Goodman would like to know what’s for dinner.

mmm

1961

For lots of laughs:
Julia Louis-Dreyfus
Amy Sedaris
Ricky Gervais

Wayne Gretzky - My son, who is now deceased, loved him
Michael J Fox - just because

Pasta usually contains eggs, not sure about the vegan thing. I have made fresh vegan pasta, it is a lot more work than fresh egg pasta, which itself is a lot of work. Even with a machine to roll it.

1976:

Reese Witherspoon, because I had a crush on her most of my early 20s

Benedict Cumberbatch, mostly because he looks extraordinary. Also I imagine a great conversationalist, but mostly for his appearance. I am shallow.

Colin Farrel, so he can learn how to act from Benedict. I find him really annoying, but hey, I am an equal opportunity dinner giver.

Emma Bunton of the Spice Girls (Baby Spice). I’d like to learn if she is as vacuous as her public persona in that band.

Cillian Murphy, an actor for whom I have great respect.

It’s going to be home made bread, hand made pasta, probably mezellune (half-moon shaped ravioli) stuffed with finely chopped pork, sage, thyme, onion and perhaps a little pickled ginger served with a sage butter. Obviously accompanied by a light salad.

Followed by home made basil ice-cream (suprisingly delicious)

… or, swordfish cutlets, with fresh pomegranite, and a pomegranite reduction. Decisions, decisions…

Plenty of fine wine, plus some alcho-pops for Baby Spice.

Jodie Foster
Cheryl Crow
Michelle Yeoh
Matthew Broderick
Wesley Snipes

On the menu Greek Meze platters and herbal infused cocktails.

Damn, i had to check that she was really born in 1976. She was.
It seems like everybody’s getting older, not just me !

Birth year 1957

  • Fran Drescher - She got a lot more interesting during the recent SAG-AFTRA strike. She probably has a lot of good stories she could share, she expresses herself well, and is open with her thoughts.
  • Dave Stewart - Baseball pitcher and executive. He’s my favorite player from my time as an Oakland A’s fan, not just for his accomplishments on the field, but for his decency and humanitarianism off the field.
  • Ethan Coen - One of my favorite directors. I’d love to talk to him about movies.
  • Spike Lee - He seems like an interesting person, full of opinions.
  • Stephen Fry - He’d probably be hilarious.

Menu:

  • Sweet and sour beef and cabbage soup
  • Indian black-eyed peas with mushrooms (in case there are any vegetarians)
  • Roasted cauliflower
  • Poppyseed Bundt cake

Several of the others (2 IIRC) were born in 1974, they came up in my list. So she’s a “baby” by those standards.

1962 for those scoring at home.

mmm

No that’s not correct. How’s I do that? What year was I born. I’d better ask mom.
