Rocky (How can I be the first to mention Rocky?!)
Goodfella’s (From what I’ve heard, this movie averages more than a “fuck” a minute)
Reservoir Dogs (Pulp Fiction is out because of the ass-rape scene; definitely not “man’s man friendly”. Reservoir Dogs is in because of the ear cutting scene)
Airplane! (Still ridiculously funny, after all these years)
White Men Can’t Jump (I wanted to add a sports movie; this one is one of my favorites)
[I made it a point to nominate movies I didn’t already see; you certainly can’t go wrong with Raiders of the Lost Ark or Caddyshack. And I love Fight Club]
ETA: I see the last 2 posters beat me to 2 of my selections; oh well, I guess I’m not as original as I had hoped

In guy movies a ear hacked off and a lot of swearing are not negatives.

A quick scan of everyone’s list revealed no movies under 10 years old (newest seems to be SPR, 1998) and most 20+ years old.
What does that say about the state of moviemaking today? (It might say something good, I don’t know, I’m just asking.)
There’s a couple; I said Fight Club (1999), Jali suggested Snatch (which I agree with but has to be edged out by Fight Club).
I’m just going to mention some movies that should be considered that I haven’t seen listed yet.
Hoosiers (Sports)
The Dirty Dozen (War)
The French Connection (Cop)
The Deer Hunter (Okay, another war)
City of Hope, or Lone Star, or Sunshine State, or… (every guy should see at least one John Sayles film)

I was going to include either Black Hawk Down or We Were Soldiers Once, but the 5 movie maximum confounded me. One that isn’t old enough to be sure it’s good enough for the list is Shooter
Second list, 1998 or later.
We Were Soldiers Once 2002 - As good as Saving Private Ryan, without being so Spielberg-ish.
Black Hawk Down 2001 - I remember when this happened, so it has a little more impact than Vietnam movies do.
Mystery, Alaska - Obligatory sports flick. Last Man Standing is just a bit old Fight Club? I never saw it Sin City might be a bit … I don’t know. Maybe
That one crime movie with all the Cooper Mini’s?
One of the Bourne movies?
(BTW Snatch was way better than Fight Club :D)
I’d say I disagree, but I own Snatch and have nearly worn out my DVD and still haven’t bought Fight Club, so I can’t say I disagree too strongly.
IANAG, but seems to me you have a bit of a shortage on James Bond movies in these lists. I find that strange for some reason.
My husband’s list is heavy on westerns:
The Magnificent Seven - Western, plus it gives you your Charles Bronson fix
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly - Clint Eastwood, plus the soundtrack for your life
Rio Bravo/Rio Lobo - C’mon, these are the same movie!!
The Hunt for the Red October - Sean Connery fix
The Quiet Man - A John Wayne movie you can watch with the “little woman”!
Dangit, I wanted to be first with Man Who Would be King
MWWBK
Zulu
Patton
Raiders of the Lost Ark
The Great Escape.
Hmmm…3 war flicks, and no sports. If I had a gun to my head, I’d cross off MWWBK and add Rudy. Or Field of Dreams…naw, we need a comedy, too: Major League.
Death Hunt (A touching tale of a man and his dog. Well, someone else’s dog, but still. It’s touching, the number of people Charles Bronson kills over a dog.)
Unforgiven (“Deserve’s got nothin’ to do with it”)
Predator (Jesse Ventura plays a god damned sexual tyrrannosaurus who ain’t got time to bleed. And Ahnald outruns a nuclear explosion!)
Let’s start with the **Godfather Saga ** to get the first two movies.
Kelly’s Heroes
Die Hard (Also needs to make the list for top 5 Christmas movies)
Animal House over Caddy Shack but it is close.
Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Rio Bravo/Rio Lobo - C’mon, these are the same movie![\QUOTE]
I believe your thinking of El Dorado and Rio Bravo which are basically the same plot Rio Lobo is of a similar name but dffrent plot.
Terminator 2
Die Hard
Rudy
Under Siege
Rocky
The Godfather Citizen Kane Unforgiven Blazing Saddles
The last slot is the toughest. How can Casablanca not make the list? How can you have a list with no Alfred Hitchcock movies? How do you leave off any representation of science fiction? How can a guy consider himself well rounded without an Arnold movie, a Stallone movie, a Norris movie, a Seagall movie, and a Van Damme movie? No Cary Grant, no Bruce Willis? Sacrilege!
Despite all that, the last slot must go to: The Big Sleep (1946)

No one has chosen “Snatch”. Positively re-watchable. (I’m a chick so I really shouldn’t be here, but I’m nosy as hell).

There are probably a dozen different ways to take this marvelous quote out of context.
