Why not? Because the facts that we have so far no longer allow you to think as badly of those five guys as you would like to. When the facts change, why doesn’t your opinion change? Now there are too many question marks (remember, initially, the story was misreported, so we weren’t discussing just assumptions, but what we thought were facts) for me to have one. I don’t work at the hospital where he was treated, I am a college professor. In my neighborhood there are 8 nurses who live just on my street, two of which do work in the ER where Mr. Bennett was treated. Like I said, Savannah is a small town at it’s core, and seriously, people talk about this stuff. He wasn’t a patient under my care, and everything I told you has now been reported. I do it sometimes mostly because it makes me, and at least one other person I know of, laugh, and I think it’s more interesting than a lot of fuck-you-jerkface-ing. And as you can see, I’m aware that it’s skirting the line of good taste…but this is the Pit, where threads called, say, You Cuntwaffles Can Suck My Big Hairy Nutsack of Doom are acceptable. I am curious as to who you think is wrong in this thread. The charges were dropped because the victim of the 5 on 1 attack chose not to cooperate in the prosecution. The dropping of the charges was in no way an endorsement of the actions of the five.

I think it’s pretty obvious to most reasonable people that someone being beaten up when caught during the commission of a crime is to be expected. You’ve been fielding an entire cornfield of strawmen here, and I don’t see more than one or two other posters buying it. It wasn’t vigilante justice, it wasn’t a savage 5 on 1 attack that left a man near death, it wasn’t a gay bashing incident, it wasn’t premeditated revenge, it wasn’t anything except “Hey, that guy just took my wallet, get him!”. You’ve been attempting to make it so much more than it actually was for some reason, and you’ve failed.
I’m not attempting to say it’s any of that. I’m attempting to say if it were those things, it would be wrong. The people I’m arguing with are attempting that if it were one of those things, a vicious beating, it would still be right. And with posters like Bricker on my side, I feel pretty confident in my opinion.
