The ex-felon vs the two drunk douchebags

This story almost warmed my heart. Two drunk women go to McDonald’s. evidently the cashier questions the $50 bill one of them gave him. At that point, one of the women slaps him in the face. The other jumps over the counter and goes after him. Meanwhile the first woman, the slapper walks around the counter from the other side and goes after him. The cashier (the ex-felon) someone gets a hold of a broom handle or a metal bar of some type and defends himself lays a hurt on the two drunk douchebags. So far, so good. This guy is Batman, punishing the evil in Gotham (Greenwich Village). Eventually the two women get arrested, but—and here is where I’m robbed of my elation—the guy gets arrested, too.

Fuck that. If you hit someone and jump over a counter and go after them—and then get your friggin ass kicked—GOOD! The ass kicker deserves a medal.

Oops. Here’s the link.

Have you actually seen the video? What he did wasn’t cool. He beat the living hell out of those girls. Then, after they were laying on the ground, he came back and beat them again.

Here’s a link to the current thread with the video.

ETA, I see the video is at the bottom of your link (I missed it before) so I assume you saw it. Where did you see that the girls where drunk, I didn’t catch that in either article I read. I also never saw anything about it being a broomstick, just that it was a metal rod or pipe. Also, you do know why he’s a felon, right?

Magellan is a coward that likes to beat unarmed women with metal bars.

That should be the takeaway from this thread.

What I don’t understand is this: There are two women in the kitchen, so why is the GUY the one making the sandwiches?

I tell you what…them bitches got what they deserved. And I’m sure after the legalities settle down, the guy will get what he deserves too. Probably jail though.

Seriously. Maybe those women will try to not be so … how to put this mildly … inner-city-black-woman-y in the future.

Not that there’s anything wrong with them living in the city. Or being women. Or being black. But let’s be honest, stereotypes exist for a reason…there’s got to be a trend somewhere. And I’m confident that they fit it. Cashiers don’t just go beating any random person. Guy’s trying to hold down his crappy job at McD’s, when these two show up, causing all kinds of ruckus, and he over-retaliates. What did these women expect? They got all violent and aggressive with the dude. If I were raised in a violent crime riddled area, where this kind of behavior was more commonplace, I’m sure I would have reacted in a similar way.

If it happened to *me *now, today, well sheesh. I’d probably have hit them back too. But not nearly that hard or that often. More of a swatting, maybe a kick to the knee or something.

Yeah, okay. This will go well.

Oh yeah. Total self defense, especially when the women were already down and he kept hitting them while that woman was screaming at him to stop and his coworkers were trying to restrain him from continuing to hit the two women.

Don’t get me wrong. Those women were fucking nuts, but your idea of batman (must be a Frank Miller fan) crossed the damn rubicon when he kept swinging after the women were clearly down and not fighting back.

You’ve got some screwed up ideas regarding self-defense.

The employee is an ex-felon in the same way that the OP is an ex-idiot.

So did they or did they not… deserve a break today?

I think they got more than a quarter pound her.

You find beating someone with a metal bar after they are already down and fracturing their skull heart-warming?

Granted the women were being assholes and deserved some kind of retaliation. But what the guy did was way out of proportion.

That video might be described in a lot of ways. But finding it “heartwarming” is seriously screwed up.

Myabe he was talking about the heat lamps they keep the apple pies under.

It is “heartwarming” when assholes who think they can slap a guy serving them behind the counter get their comeuppance. I agree with magellan.

As for “out of proportion” - every time I hear that I know the guy who’s talking has not been in a fight once in his life. Go to any self-defense class, and ask your instructor whether you should think of how proportional your response is when you’re defending yourself. Tell me whether he stops laughing at you long enough to tell you what he thinks.

Wow, you sure are internet-tough, mister.

Yeah, the guy should have not gone in for those extra whacks. But, hey, in the heat of the moment and all that. Fact is, they deserved to get the shit beat out of them, and Mr. Cashier obliged. I doubt these women will be making the same mistake again. And for that, we should all be grateful to Mr. Cashier for the education he provided to those two douchebags. (In one the first video, I think, they are identified as having been drinking.) So, he got carried away. I’d give the guy a pass on that. And maybe a medal. He went Ezekiel on their asses. (1:50 - 2:30)

If the fractured skull happened with the initial blows I applaud them without reservation. If they happened with the last series of blows, I applaud them with a little reservation. It’s not always easy to stop once the defense mechanism is triggered. Still, the douchebags set things in motion. Justice was served. And it rained great blows down upon them. I friggin love it.

I look forward to magellan’s incisive responses to his critics in this thread. If the past is prologue, I can expect a lot of “I know you are but what am I” and “neener-neener”.

No. The “internet-tough” are the people who think that when they’re in a fight they can manage to maintain proportionality of response.

I took tae-kwon-do for several years. The number one lesson we were taught is if you are offered an avenue of escape, take it. The self-defense techniques I know are for removing myself from a dangerous situation; not removing a person from life. Once they were not attacking him, he should have stopped.
