Five Year old Girl "Breaks thru barricade"to Give Pope message on Immigraation

So says the guy that talked about scraping a kid off from the pavement. And once again, resorting to claims that this was media manipulation with no good evidence against it being a sincere position of her family is indeed just lowering oneself to the levels of many others that do not want to talk about the issue of immigration. Better to talk about conspiracies.

You have a point. But wouldnt he want to live to continue his groundbreaking work? In death the Church will likely retrench.

Some of the people who have threatened to kill the Pope use child bombers. Security knows this. It isnt difficult to inagine that security isnt going to allow anyone unfettered access to the Pope, I didnt know that the kid was stopped first by police. Also, I admitted to being hyperbolic. Also, what does Sandy Hook or rightwing websites have to do with this thread?

They sort of do. It’s not as if he’s legally obligated to be escorted by them. If they were demanding that they be allowed to strongarm people and shoot them to death for getting too close to them, he could certainly say “No thanks”.

His “groundbreaking work” is ministering to the poor and downtrodden. He can’t do that from inside a bulletproof bubble. I’m sure he’s considered the possibility that someone might want to do him harm and has decided that that’s a price he’s willing to pay - after all, the guy he works for didn’t exactly get treated very nicely in His day.

I am no expert on security matters for public figures but dont you think that they would give him the same level of security that they give to President Obama? As noted above, was it Pope John Paul was almost assassinated? In todays world it just seems irresponsible to let anyone get to close to our leaders.

That is just what searching does for me, I looked at the chain of articles coming from the ones that are talking about this as if it was a conspiracy/manipulation, several sites I found pushing that idea also did in the past talked about conspiracies like Sandy Hook being used to “take guns away from Americans”.

Maybe you are not looking for information in those places, but I would not be surprised that a lot of your peers are percolating that kind of “information” to you.

And once again, you are conveniently missing that the police had already taken the girl into custody but the Pope then asked them to let her come forward.

OK…I agree with this. Ill dial my cynicism down a bit.

My peers?? OMG

I am capable of coming up with my own often ridiculous ideas. I dont visit websites of either left or right political persuasions because they breed the kind of paranoia I am seeing here.

Things is you are acting like if it was not you the one that relied on that paranoia, as you noted already it is good to dial up down your cynicism, and stop projecting to others that paranoia when those others are the ones that are telling you to dial it down in the first place.

I’ve been around the block too many times to accept a public figure having a moment this saccharin as anything but staged. I’m put in mind of Bill Clinton arranging rocks in the form of a cross on a beach in Normandy. I was generally on his side in political matters too, but ersatz sentimentality pisses me off.

The paranoia I am refering to comes from believing that ideas come from websites or peers and its all a rightwing conspiracy.

Like this:

and this

This was my thought to. In Presidential races how often do we see cute kids come up to a candidate with a message that validates their position? Its just how things are done today.

It’s not like the Pope has to run for re-election, you know. He’s not a politician. He’s a humble street preacher who nobody expected to end up in this office and doesn’t consider himself to be all that special.

The fact that you assume all public figures must be cynical masters of manipulating people’s minds says more about yourself than it does about the Pope.

On the other hand, people generally aligned with a message are most likely the ones at an event. Probably not a lot of anti-immigration white supremacist children in the Pope line looking to hand him a card.

When did I say that the Pope manipulated this? The parents of the child did. And all I can say about paragraph 1 is  because one has to be a politician to become a cardinal in the first place…not to mention winning an election.

Yeah, they’re cracking down so hard that Cardinal Mahoney is hanging out with the Pope.

http://ktla.com/2015/09/23/cardinal-roger-mahony-retired-from-l-a-archdiocese-after-sex-abuse-scandal-attends-events-during-papal-visit/

In case you don’t remember who Mahoney is.

“Since 2006, the archdiocese has paid more than $700 million to settle clergy abuse lawsuits by hundreds of victims. Internal church files kept on priests accused of abuse were released last year under court order. They showed that Mahony, who was elevated to cardinal and retired in 2011, maneuvered behind the scenes with his top aide Monsignor Thomas Curry to shield molester priests, provide damage control for the church and keep parishioners in the dark.”
Also there is this thread about how they are still relocating molesting priests instead of turning them over to the police.

Ah, so you admit it was all a sham.

If a secret service guy helped her over a fence so she could get to the pope this was manipulated way higher than the parents.

You don’t accidentally get chosen to be The Pope. He is the head of a vastly wealthy multi-national organization that is many centuries old and that plans to be around for many more. Their leaders are chosen with that long game in mind. You are curiously naive if you think his public persona is anything other than carefully managed.

Well that, plus surprise, fear, and ruthless efficiency. Some things never change.

So you do not know what words like “maybe” does mean. Once again, it is likely that you do not come with those ideas, but it has to be mentioned who is also disseminating them, just a thought to keep in mind before clicking “send” to others.
