Fixing framerate glitches in Adobe Premiere 6.0

Ladies and Gentlemen, SPOOFE comes before you with a query of a puzzle of an enigma of a dilemma of a problem.

My friend - we’ll call him Flip (say “Hi”, Flip) - has some video footage on a Sony Digital 8 camera, and he wants to edit it through his recently acquired Adobe Premiere 6.0. Now, he’s been editing video for a long time, but up 'til now it’s been through an S-Video connection… which has given way to his Firewire video capture card.

The problem is this… whenever he captures video, via Firewire, through Premiere 6.0, the footage appears to be glitchy (but it isn’t… when viewed afterwards through Media Player, it’s perfectly smooth). Further, when he’s editing, the footage appears even worse (but, again, isn’t after viewing through Media Player)… we’re talking about one frame per second or so, which makes editing, while possible, unfeasible.

So, Teeming Millions, I turn to the collective IQ’s of the smartest people in the universe. I’m speculating at the moment that the problem is software, not hardware… other footage, captured via S-Video, appears fine through his older editing program, Premiere 5.1.

Troubleshooting advice? Solutions? A lil’ help, my Brothers and Sisters?
