Flash: new TV show (boxed spoilers)

I don’t know, but they do have the privilege of customizing their uniform to an extent. I’ve seen generals wearing black cowboy boots instead of regulation combat boots.

I thought it was about the weakest episode yet. It’s practically a cliche that the hot female that a member of the team falls for is going to be dead by the end of the episode.

Also, I couldn’t figure out the reason for the Plastique’s angst about her super powers. Sure, it’s awkward that things go boom on occasion, but she seemed to have some kind of control over it. It wasn’t as though she was leaving a trail of constant explosions. She seemed to be able to carry on normal life fairly well. Did she only do it when she was startled or something?

I’m getting increasingly irritated by the Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde professor. You’d figure there’d be at least one episode where he wasn’t obligated to go all darkly Machiavellian and evil. I kind of hope he’s just possessed by some space ghost from the future or some other sort of comic book rubbish, otherwise the character seems too ridiculously inconsistent.

I got into this exact same argument with some coworker, way back when I was in my early 20s. He claimed that he’d once consumed some 500-proof booze. In fact, I used the same argument you made - “That would mean it was 250% alcohol, which is impossible.”

I would also appear that the guard who “caught” her in the office building somehow survived that massive explosion. One of the cops’ lines was something like, “Witness said it was a red-haired female”. As far as I noticed, nobody else saw her there.

All true. I guess I just focused on the main characters and dialogue. I liked the scene with cop-dad and Barry, and cop-dad knowing all along that Barry loves his daughter. Okay, it’s actually pretty creepy for Barry to have a thing for his sister. Oh, well. I’m ignoring tons of things about the show I could nitpick.

I also got a laugh when they had Bomb Girl throwing frisbees and in the background the doctor scientist held up a boomerang and said, “you didn’t think this through, did you?”

The show has its moments, and I see some potential, but I am being pretty generous and forgiving I guess.

I’m finding I don’t like it as much as the 1990 show, though my memories may be fonder than deserved.

I think it was just a case of things blowing up when she touched them (except clothes, apparently).

Could she not have been seen going into the building, or something?

Or maybe somebody saw her leaving. During that scene, I got the impression that the guards were just doing an end-of-shift walkthrough, not specifically looking for an intruder. I could be wrong.

Barry finally got some fight training. Maybe now he won’t get sucker punched by the next two-bit metahuman.

Yeah, and blond cop just happens to really need to give Barry some boxing training right when he needs it. And then tell us the story about how he was a short fat kid who got picked on, thereby making us like him more. He’s doomed, poor guy. Just a little too nice.

It almost seems future Barry could somehow be responsible for time traveling and killing his own mother. Or something twisty. There can’t be too many red & yellow blurs around.

I’m a sucker for the cop dad/son stuff. The metahuman of the week was so so. Is he someone from the comics?

Professor Zoom/Reverse Flash

Note the yellow suit.

Thank link contains a huge spoiler.

D’oh! Sorry, I forgot to consider that everybody watching the show isn’t necessarily familiar with the comics.

I thought she said it was ‘like’ 500 proof? So she added something to it to speed-up/slow-down/enhance the effect?

I do find it interesting in our fairly Puritan times concerning alcohol that getting Barry buzzed is minor plot point.

I’m not going to spoiler this because I don’t know it’s going to happen, but I suspect that at some point all (or at least some) of the incarcerated meta-humans are going to escape–it’s got end of season cliffhanger written all over it–and then Barry’s going to seriously wish he hadn’t gloated to the bully by letting him know his true identity.

And Barry needs more combat training than what he’s gotten. I realize he’s busy, but he really needs to fit in some martial arts training somehow. I’m surprised his foster dad hasn’t suggested this.

I’m surprised foster dad only gave Barry the one boxing lesson. I guess Barry was more interested in books and lusting after his foster sister inappropriately.

The mask is killing me with how willfully stupid he’s being. As often as he takes it off - even mid-fight! - we’re approaching a situation where Iris is the only person that doesn’t know who he is. Hero lore says that the mask doesn’t protect them, it protects their loved ones - he’s putting a bullseye on Iris with every metahuman, and this one already tried to use her against him.

Was it known before the last episode that boyfriend police officer’s full name was Eddie Thawne? That’s either a major red herring, or throws a monkey wrench into some theories about the identity of the main big bad since (spoiler regarding things known from the comics) it’s pretty close to Eobard Thawne, Professor Zoom’s real name.

I guess if I knew more about the comics and studied the show more I’d already have known. Not sure if it should be openly discussed now or not. It’s probably fair game.

Why does he need fight training? He should be able to evade near any incoming attacks. The fact that he is hit at all is weird.

IIRC, it jumped out at me in the first episode.
