The fire seemed to be confined to one floor. Seems like the best strategy would be to move people down a couple of floors and then have them exit on their own. He could carry anyone unconscious all the way out himself.
So all the battles between Flash and Reverse-Flash take place in Barry’s subjective future and Wells/Thawn’s subjective past. Interesting. That means that Wells could die and still show up later. (Later to everybody else, but earlier to him, of course.)
I don’t see how that is possible, all it would leave behind is a dessicated corpse like what happened to Wells. I feel terrible for Eddie most of the time, he’s been nothing but brave honorable and understanding and it seems no matter what he is going to get shit on.
I can handwave that a dozen ways, easy, with better explanations that they’ve used for other stuff. Just off the top of my head, how about this: because Eddie is Eobard’s ancestor, the energy needed to transfer is one one-millionth of what it would take for an unrelated person. Or “Because a super-charged Barry is in the area, this ONE TIME the body-swap didn’t kill the person being left behind.”, “Eddie is dumped by Iris and in a fit of depression agrees to let Eobard merge with him. Because it’s a willing transfer…etc”.
Point is, they’ve got a hit show and Wells adds too much to the chemistry. You could ditch Caitlyn and nobody would notice, but the Wells/Barry dynamic is too good to toss.
Think about the finale like this: Barry/Eobard-Wells are fighting in the past. Whatever happens to Nora occurs (presumably they won’t do a Flashpoint). With his last bit of speed Eobard-Wells returns to the present and hops into Eddie’s body (leaving Wells alive, because…reasons.)
That sets up next season for
Suspicion against Wells (is he really Eobard-free? We thought he was before…)
Possessed-Eddie as a stealth Reverse-Flash, working secret evil.
Why don’t Joe or Barry just get Ollie to threaten to kill poor Eddie? That would would put Eobard in a bind. Ollie has killed, and a dead ancestor is bad news for Eobard.
Also, where does the name Eobard come from? Strictly made up or is it play on something that I am missing?
Eobard will be common in the DC future. And I think Eobard knows Barry well enough to know he wouldn’t allow Oliver to kill Eddie. It would be a failed bluff.
I hated pretty much everything between Barry and Iris in this episode. The ‘reveal’ of Barry as the Flash to Iris that we saw in the time-travel episode was much better than the electric spark and “oh, the Flash must be Barry” from last week and then her just strolling in on him in the costume tonight. And then everything gets all angsty and of course everything is all about Iris.
I (somewhat generously) assumed that this week, Cisco has disabled most security systems while he attempts to detect any booby-traps and back-doors that Wells might have left in the system, though it occurs to me know that “Gideon” could have been useful (though he might have decided to let Iris through anyway).
When Joe, Barry, and Cisco were in the sewers, my husband said, “If Grodd can mind control the rats, they’re in trouble.” I pointed out that Grodd’s also supposed to be telekinetic, in which case… “If he can control what else is in the sewers…start throwing things that apes are famous for throwing…it could get really bad.” Unsurprisingly, they didn’t go there.
When Iris was complaining about Team Flash not being about to rescue her dad, my husband said that Barry should say, “Wells was carrying us.”
Grodd did look good. He is one scary creature though. I am glad I am not the only one who remains confused as why they do not find another love interest for Barry. I am not good at recognizing chemistry in couples, but think there is none between Iris and Barry.
Yeah, there’s like zero chemistry between them. They’re much more like siblings, which makes sense given their history. Barry would be much better paired off with Caitlyn- or preferably Felicity.
