Flash: new TV show (boxed spoilers)

It was once explained that Captain Cold projects a field of “absolute zero” around himself that slows the Flash down considerably, which is why the Rogues can get potshots to hit.

The rest of the Rogues? No info given. But Cold was given a “here’s how he survives a fight” reason.

Things that made no sense to me

  1. No locks.
  2. Captain Cold has a gun that turns things into gold. I do not understand his motivation. I could understand (possibly) elaborate heists to see if he could do them. But why bother with smash & grab robberies. He could just buy whatever he wants.
  3. Why they needed Captain Cold at all - couldn’t Cisco just make another cold gun? Why bother?
  4. Where Oliver came from. Wasn’t he busy during the prisoner transport? Why/How did that change?

Yes, the gold gun is quite possibly the stupidest weapon ever created. And that doesn’t even take into account the fact that actually using it as a weapon is the stupidest possible way to use it…

Anybody else wondering what it was Captain Cold asked the Flash to get him first? Before settling for wiping out the info about him.

In comics, how long was Hal Jordan gone when he had his meet and greet with Abin Sur? I mean, I assume others got that reference?

Oh yes, GL Hal Jordan is my all-time favorite superhero. I got the reference immediately. And now I am desperately hoping for a GL appearance.

And a GL show.

As far as the last episode … did I just “mis-view” because I was drinking beer while watching, or did C/Kaitlyn’s eyes glow red at one point during the supervillian escape scene? Or was that somebody else?

I also have no memory of Captain Cold’s sister kissing Cisco. In fact, I don’t remember her at all. Again, beer. Sorry, I have to watch online the day after, and The Flash airs the same night as iZombie, and I tend to watch iZombie first. So by the time I watch The Flash, I have a few beers in me. I don’t have the same problem with Arrow, as it’s the first and only show I watch on Thursdays.

It’s going to be VERY hard to justify Captain Cold as a Superhero on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow after what he did to the Flash by betraying him and letting those meta humans go.

Erm, since you quoted me, where do I suggest that Captain Cold is a superhero rather than a supervillian?

Yes, her eyes glowed red when the prisoner known as the Rainbow Raider looked in her eyes and used his powers on her. He incites anger in the object of his gaze, which is why Caitlyn went berserk for a while there.

The first time we saw her was a few episodes ago. She flirted with Cisco in a bar (she was wearing a blond wig), and made him think she was really into him. But it was just a trick so she could kidnap him and she and her brother made him build weapons (cold gun, gold gun) for them.

Her eyes glowed red when the mind control guy made her attack Cisco.

Caitlin’s eyes glowed red just before she attacked Cisco, under influence of Rainbow Raider (? - that dude who made everyone angry).

It’s a rule. If you don’t stop, gloat, and make a speech right before your supposed moment of triumph, they take away your supervillain card.

Couldn’t have been more than 6 hours or so. Hal was in the trainer, was snatched by Abin, was given the 2 page info dump, given the ring (and Abin dies) spends a page or so playing with the ring (putting on a mask, burying Abin under a mountain range he just lifted up, flying) and then he goes back to Ferris Air.

However, I’d have no problem with the two page info-dump, Abin gives him the ring and the ring says “Alert-Untrained User! Go to Oa. Go Directly To Oa. Do Not Pass Ferris Aircraft. Do Not Collect $200.00” and shanghais him to basic training.

Whatever it was, I’m guessing that in Season 2, Captain Cold (with help from the Rogues) is going to try to get it for himself.

Interestingly, IIRC, Barry said that he couldn’t get it, not that he wouldn’t.

Wasn’t he in his study when a lantern came flying in through his window?

By the way, was that a deliberate tribute to the Coyote and Roadrunner cartoons, or did it just seem so to me?

Did they drop an anvil on the Reverse Flash or something? I missed it.

Wut?

This deleted scene reveals they (or at least Caitlin) did actually feed the metahumans imprisoned in STAR Labs:

So now the big question is how did they go to the bathroom.

Right after the scene where Peekaboo threatens Caitlin (and gets conked by Iris), Barry is chasing Thawne through the city and reaches out to grab him when Thawne puts on a burst of a speed and disappears over the horizon, leaving Barry behind. I almost expected Barry’s jaw to cartoonishly hit the ground.
