Flashpoint: new Strategic Response Unit show

So is anyone else watching? This is a new show made by CTV (yes, a cop show that is not only filmed in Toronto, but actually takes place there!) which CBS is simulcasting in the United States. It’s similar to the show Stand Off which was on FOX last year, except without the cheese factor. I’ve seen the first two episodes and it’s very good so far. Enrico Colantoni (Veronica Mars’ dad) is the main negotiator, and it’s nice to see him back in something.

One thing that really bothered me about the end of the second episode…

The older guy who was supposed to get the heart just decides AFTER the crisis is over to give it to the little girl? First of all, why didn’t he speak up when he had a gun pointed at him…that would have ended things a lot faster. And secondly, they said multiple times that the hospital would not give in to threats, in order to stop copycats in the future, so why would they agree after the fact to do the operation? It seems like it was tacked on to make the audience feel good that the girl wasn’t gonna die, but I was predicting a second heart showing up at the end

Ok, so it’s a bit of a zombie thread, but since no one replied originally, I figure it’s ok!
I am really enjoying this show. I like the characters and situations, and tonight’s episode nearly had me in tears at the end (though I think they should have ended it with the look the daughter gave her mother and father, rather than continue with storyline for the cops and the telescope scene). I think they have the potential to come up with a lot of interesting plotlines. I wish they were developing Hugh Dillon’s character more, since right now he just seems to be a little typecast as the quiet tough guy that no one can get close to.

By what I see on Wikipedia, it seems to be doing pretty well in the States. Even if CBS eventually cuts it, I hope CTV keeps producing it, because it really is a good show!
