Florida Attorney General election

The incumbent Florida AG is Republican Bill McCollum, and he could run for a second term; but he’s running for governor instead, so the job’s open.

Florida Attorney General Election, 2010:

Democratic candidates:

Dan Gelber

Dave Aronberg

Republican candidates:

Lieutenant Governor Jeff Kottkamp

Former State Health Secretary Holly Benson

Assistant State Attorney Pat Bondi

The primary is August 24.

Frankly, I’m starting this thread because, after reading this story about the Democratic contenders, I can’t decide whether to vote for Gelber or Aronberg in the primary. Anyone have an opinion?

Alvin Greene.

While agreeing with Frank (if Meeks doesn’t win, the Dems will throw in behind Charlie - who’s a total shit, but better than Rubio), I would say toss a coin and then go play a round of golf*.

In the AG race, the primary doesn’t matter. Just vote Democrat in the fall and everything will be alright. Either candidate will make a perfectly acceptable AG (and better than Bill ever was).

Frankly, it’s the Gov’s race that’s driving me crazy - Scott’s a liar, a crook and an ass, McCollum’s a non-entity (albeit a nice guy), and I just plain don’t like the DINO in the race.

Edited to add: And if you’re near Tally, give me a call. Worth a day off…

Well, do you want Alan Grayson or Bill Nelson? Gelber is the former, Aronberg the latter.

Latest Mason-Dixon poll has it with Bondi and Gelber leading the AG races. Both are narrow leads within the margin of error and both races still have high undecided counts (the Democratic race has 42% undecideded!).

Not strictly on topic, but the Governor’s race has McCollum with a solid and growing lead over Scott. Meek is leading Greene in the Democratic Senate primary.

It does seem like in certain races, the M-D poll may be an outlier though. Ipsos has different numbers for the Greene/Meeks race (as well as different numbers for the Senate general election).

Anybody know if there’s a major difference in the reliability of Ipsos v. Mason-Dixon?

Edited to add: Here’s a TalkingPointsMemo page showing composite polling for several of the Florida races (although sadly not the AG).

Gelber beats Aronberg for the Dem nomination.

Bondi wins the GOP nomination. Kottkamp conceded to Bondi by Twitter.

So, it’s: Dan Gelber (D) vs. Pam Bondi (R).

Florida v. Stetson. Oh dear.

I just saw a Bondi ad. She is a really cute, petite blonde, and she pledges to fight to bring jobs to Florida (does she understand what an AG does?! or perhaps she assumes the voters don’t), and to fight “the Obama health care takeover.” She also ominously charges her opponent (not named – maybe it was in the can before the matter was decided between Gelber and Aronberg) with supporting the takeover, etc.
