The flower we used as our wedding reception centerpiece was called, IIRC, “alsteria.” That’s what the guy called it, but in the book, I could swear it was called something like “altomeria.” I couldn’t find it on the net, though. Anyway, it was very pretty and simple.
That would be Alstroemeria, the Lily of Peru. You can grow them from bulbs but you have to dig them in the winter.
