I am not sure you read the post I was responding to. That seems a fair conclusion because all his post consisted of was calling me an “idiot” (a far more ancient insult) for posting my opinion that the confederate flag represented slavery, racism and treason (not in that order). This guy had more posts than most human beings live days, and he did not appear to know or care about this rule I didn’t see. Why no chastisement of him? Please don’t tell me you are going to buy “people with your opinion” is not a personal insult. And I no more hijacked the thread than he did. Apparently casting The First Stone is allowed, but The Second Stone isn’t? You didn’t even bother to tell both of us to know it off, but simply played favorites.
I didn’t drag out every old joke in book, and not everyone has had the dis/pleasure of hearing Gunnery Sgt. Hartman. I got in what? Three or four.
Had someone done this to me in a social setting, I would have invited him to apologize just as loudly. If he refused that, you’d better believe he would have heard more than a few choice jokes taking, what, 20 seconds? It would have gone on at least an hour, or until he left.
Now, I may very well be an idiot, as is often pointed out to me by my betters. But they had better be prepared to take what they dish out.
Now I have carefully considered your chastisement, and provisionally, it appears to me (assuming you read everything) to be outside the rules and nothing short of favoritism for a poster I strongly doubt complained, as he ended it with the last word on my atrocious spelling. After all, we both spoke the truth, and many hold the opinion that I am an idiot. Most have the good sense and manners not to call someone an idiot in a public place, even if it is true. So, I must very humbly and respectfully ask you to take the chastisement and reconsider it and put it in a dark place where no decent person is likely to see it.
If you are not prepared to justify this disparate treatment, or withdraw it, I want to assure you that if anyone insults me first, I will give them the verbal beat down they deserve, even if they are a favorite, and even if it gets me banned. In the absence of a logical justification, which I assume will be forthcoming, I have to ignore your well meant chastisement of yours truly. “Not even in the face of Armageddon. Incidentally, people who in the distant past who have been called, “idiots”, “morons”, “cretins”, “retards”, etc. have asked to be called “developmentally challenged”.
