FGIE might have all kinds of flaws and frailties as a person - I don’t know him and I won’t judge him. But I will judge a person who pretends to make an offer to someone under the pretense of operating in good faith, only to reveal himself as boosting his own ego and then, to top it off, has the sack to shame someone on a public message board.
It’s poor etiquette to forget to thank someone for a kindness.

No. But then I don’t give gifts to get a thank you. I give gifts because I like to do nice things for people I love. Or even just like. The thank you is just icing on the cake.
I came to know him only recently myself, and I’ve concluded he doesn’t have more than four brain cells to rub together, and unfortunately, he rubbed them all together. And it appears his only reason to be here is to somehow score points against other people, with a Bible verse in his sig. I’m sure Jesus loves that.
I thought that was pretty cool, too.
Keep in mind that FGIE is sick. Whether he’s drinking or not, being sick fucks you up and sometimes normal niceties get overlooked. He strikes me as basically a decent guy so I suspect not giving thanks was an oversight.
