That reminds me: they also just canned the Doritos Cool Ranch taco, which was easily the best one.
Product 19 was my favorite cereal when I was a kid.
I liked “original” Product 19, before they changed the formula and made it more like Special K.
I was going to say Canada Dry Cactus Cooler, but apparently that’s still being made (by Dr. Pepper) in parts of the country.
Great call. Thanks for jogging my memory. I loved those things, and yes, they were so much better than pop-tarts.
Dole’s Paradise Blend fruit juice. In addition to the usual suspects, it also had some carrot juice in it, which added a refreshing tang to it.
Haven’t seen it locally in 2+ years, even to Google insists that it is still made and one hit even said two of my local grocery chains [NE FL] carry it. No, they don’t…
I love that stuff! Last time i saw any was in Ottawa, ON about a decade ago
No shortage of that in grocery stores near me in WI. Got two boxes in the cupboard
Damn, it hasn’t been on the shelf in Canada for as long as I can remember. I’m going to Dallas next week. I’ll have to look out for some.
You might get it at Amazon, too.
CastletonSnob -Thanks for the lead. Will check it out. Got one about a mile from here. I know the other is long gone, too addictive if used & abused. Narcotic, they (government) say.
This was my immediate response to the question.
Also Arby’s Skin-On Fries, which got supplanted by the vastly inferior Curly Fries.
Falstaff beer - “From the Land of Sky-Blue Water…”
I was going to add them: Space Food Sticks!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Food_Sticks
I ate a lot of these in my sack lunches as a kid, because eating dry, modular and compact food was the first step in becoming an astronaut. (Ahem.) They went away, and I sort of miss them.
The wikipedia article says they were revived about 10 years ago and may be seen at aerospace museum shops. I remember their taste really well, but as an adult, I must say I’m not that interested in going all the way to a museum just for the dry, chewy nostalgia they might produce. :dubious:
You mean Hamm’s?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamm%27s_Brewery
Wrong quote saved in my browser, dammit! Hamm’s is still produced, too. Falstaff was our “step up from Coors” beer when I was in college.
Nothing like looking stupider than normal to kick off the weekend!
Aspen apple flavored soda.
AnyThing that was then yet today uses the “high fructose corn sweetener” dangerous crap. {Remember margerine? Refined so to have infinite “shelf life”? Refined so not even of a chemical resemblence found out in nature? Refined so not even the bugs / microbes would eat it! Geeeze, ain’t that a hint in & of its’ self?
.
AnyThing that was then yet today uses any “artificial sweentner” in place of the original cane or refined sugar. Biochemically trying to deceive the body? Improving the health of the populace? Driving customers into the “health care” system? {Billy Bob Clinton coined this phrase during his / her attempt to mutinize America’s medical system. Then B.O. {remember the zombie thing he did & laughed of & became a fad nation wide? Any relation? And I had been thinking along mutiny as on a sea worthy vessel.} Then B.O. took over & Ms. Pelosi added in that no body is allowed to read it until after it becomes the law of the land. Not a sucker punch but a far reaching straight right followed with oh so many combinations. So how long we gonna rope-a-dope it?}
.
And then GMO. Is any corn on planet earth that has not been {genetically} infected?
Svalbard Global Seed Vault - Crop Trust –> “. . . man-made disasters”. They know something we commoners don’t?
Where does high fructose corn syrup come from?
.
I’ve digressed
I’ve digressed into a conspiracy theory like as if there is some Washington D.C. deep state or something.
.
Scooter Pies in that large box. No -not today’s little gross tasting cookie-like Scooter Pie want-a-be. Today’s ain’t nothing like the original. Today’s is like the remake of a great movie that’s been cut short & is a piece of junk & turns the stomach.
I hadn’t seen a Mars bar in years. I remembered them as mostly yummy nougat with a thin layer of caramel on top, and yes, a couple of almonds. I was so excited to get one in a local European deli and it was AWFUL. It was a Milky Way abomination. It was mostly “caramel” that was overly-sweet. What a disappointment.
I’ve wanted a mostly-nougat bar ever since. Does anything like that exist?
I remember those breakfast squares, YUM, and the astronaut sticks.
McDonald’s has tropical berry Sprite. I don’t know how widely available it is otherwise, but it might work for those missing the berry Sprite.
jolt is still available
No such luck. I think it is some sort of conspiracy to keep the cereal out of Canada.
I’m not normally a fast food fried chicken guy, but Hardee’s used to make the best. Hands down better than KFC or Popeyes. And their biscuits were great too. Then they shut it all down to focus on “thickburgers”.
Apparently there’s still one or two Hardees in Virginia or some other state I’ve never been to that serves fried chicken. Maybe I’ll make it there eventually and see if it’s as good as I remember.
