Food/beverages you like that have been discontinued

Ooh! Though of a couple more, sort of-
Reed’s cinnamon candies and Regal Crown cherry candies. Both disappeared for a while, but they’re back. Cracker Barrels have them if you haven’t seen them elsewhere. Here’s the “sort of” caveat: The Reed’s are not the right shape. They used to be biconcave, like a large erythrocyte. That made them feel nice while the tongue worked on them. Now they are the Regal Crown shape. The flavor is fine. For the cherry Regal Crowns, the flavor isn’t right. It’s not sour enough, and the cherry is more like a Luden’s or Smith Brothers cough drop than the Regal Crowns of yore. The lemon Regal Crowns are quite good, though.

Me-hee for YooHoo! Heere’s Yogi!

Evidently it’s still made.

That was probably the reason why it failed. Nobody likes cold cheese on a cheeseburger.

As for discontinued foods I liked, I’m not sure if this has been discontinued but I haven’t seen any for sale in my local supermarkets for over a year: Baby Swiss Cheez-It crackers.

The only experience i have with cold cheese being put on a burger is at cookouts and BBQs, where the slice of cheese is put on the burger right after its taken off the grill and put on the bun. The heat from the burger starts to heat and melt the cheese by the time i bite into it, so to call it a burger with “cold cheese” seems like a bit of a misnomer to me. But the idea of biting into a burger and actually tasting cold cheese is one that i dont find appetizing.

Heinz Worcestershire sauce seems to have disappeared from local supermarket shelves. I liked it better than Lea and Perrins; it was a little more pungent and flavorful.

Campbell’s Chunky Soups tried a bunch of new recipes a few years ago, and I quite liked a few of them, including Chipotle Burger and Chili-Style, but now, they seem to be no longer available either.

I buy them for my wife and daughter whenever I happen to be in Walmart. King size for $1.34 in random check out areas.

When I make road trips to my hometown every couple years I try to stop at one in Western Maryland, which is the only place I know for sure they still exist. I think when I checked the website they may be in VA/WV/ and/or maybe PA, not sure. But they definitely have a few in MD around Cumberland/Frostburg/Hagerstown. All the ones from when I was a kid became Hardees (which don’t exist where I live now) and then some of them changed back to Roy Rogers before disappearing.

Heinz Hot Ketchup. They later brought it back, but now it’s just ketchup with Tabasco sauce; it used to be much more akin to cocktail sauce.

Not a “discontinued” product, but one that was changed for the worse: **Rhiannon8404 **is still extremely disappointed that Heinz changed the recipe for their mustard a couple years back. Luckily, we discovered while on a Caribbean cruise a few months ago that you can still get the old recipe in Mexico; a hearty thanks to Ozzy and his manager at the Margaritaville Cafe in Cozumel for giving us an entire bottle. We’re rationing it as best we can, but we may need to take another cruise soon…

When I moved from MD to OH I couldn’t find them either but eventually we got them. I usually buy the onion rings, though.

I remember all of these.

My brother loved Snackin Cake - a cardboard cake pan, a bag of mix. As I remember, you just added water and vinegar, and stirred - and you mixed it in its cardboard pan.

They still make those under the Michelina brand name, FWIW.

Looks like pretty much the same thing as Kellogg’s All Bran cereal, or General Mills Fiber One cereal. Maybe give one of those a shot.

Suzy-Q’s are back!

The Three Musketeers bar is whipped nougat covered in chocolate.

This sounds like pure genius!

Maybe it was too expensive to make.

Yeah, they discontinued it in 1979 for that reason.

The Sky bar is similar, but only has 4 pieces, not seven. And the flavors are fixed: Vanilla, peanut, caramel and fudge. Sort of tame after the giddy variety of the Seven Up bar, which also came in both milk and dark chocolate versions.

I’m still holding out for a Seven Up bar renaissance.

Clear Pepsi!

ETA: it really was too good to be true.

Trader Joe’s. Available in both large bottle and the neat little hand grenade ones.

I miss Loco sodas. Mango, blackberry, raspberry, and lime. All with a touch of capsaicin added, for a lovely sweet-hot kick.
