Lowenbrau beer. Takes me right back to 21.
Not as a kid, but a few years ago they had a limited edition Key Lime Pie Almond Joy that I wish they’d bring back.
And Taco Bell had a recent limited-time Toasted Cheddar Chalupa which I think is the tastiest thing they’ve ever made. Bring it back!
Tahitian Treat ruled; I think it was made by Canada Dry. I found some long after I thought it was gone, but that was probably 20 years ago.
Freakies breakfast cereal. I loved that stuff.
Anybody remember Quake cereal? It was eclipsed by Quisp and discontinued in the early 1970’s. It pretty much tasted exactly like Quisp. William Conrad was the voice of Quake.
I was supposed to give earthquake power to anyone who ate it. I’m still waiting for mine.
That refers to farting power. It’s only useful if u work for Mel Brooks.
My aunt used to make this for us kids all the time. She wasn’t much of a baker.
I miss Nabisco Heyday cookies (practically a candy bar really) - cookie, caramel, peanuts and fudge. Also the Ideal cookie - a peanut butter log inside a cookie shell all dipped in chocolate. Loved those.
Looking up the name of those two I ran across a reminder of a third cookie I miss - Pepperidge Farm Nassau. When we were kids, my parents used to tell us that Pepperidge Farm cookies were for adults only. Kids were allowed Oreos, Fig Newtons, and the like but not PF. So I had to sneak into the pantry to see for myself and thought grown-up cookies tasted pretty good. I later realized my parents just wanted to keep those little bags for themselves, away from the ravening hordes of youngsters.
Yeah in the 90s Hardee’s had the same fried chicken as Roy Rogers and it was delicious.
Not as a kid; it was well after then but -------- COKE II/aka New Coke. And they re-released it for a while this year and no place around here carried it!
Now from childhood; Milkshake Bars. Mostly around our area they only popped up around Halloween but I would always stash a few aside here and there for times when I just needed the best candy ever.
Snapple sodas. All of 'em.
This x1000.
Dunk-a-roos.
Heinz Chili Sauce is basically cocktail sauce without the horseradish. You should give it a try.
Frosted Bran Flakes - the Baby Boom meets middle age!
One local Wendy’s had the best fast food fried chicken (IME) in Northern Virginia. Discontinued around 2005 and that particular Wendy’s was bulldozed a couple of years ago.
Healthy Choice canned soups have drastically reduced its variety. For those of us on restricted diets, we’re faced with just a few boring choices. I wish they’d bring back all the original flavors, even temporarily as a special edition.
ooh, someone I used to know brought some back from England wayy back, but they were so good!
I think I’ll check online for them. Which is what I normally do for long ago stuff I can’t find anymore. Like Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper, which is apparently available in part of Texas but isn’t worth the shipping cost and fast food places wit the touchscreen soda machine usually have it now.
Yesssssss! I’m not the only one! I ordered mine online. Two mini bottles of so-called Classic and Diet Coke, and two cans of New Coke (normal sized). I shudder to think what I paid for it. Was it really available in stores?
sps49sd: Callard and Bowser, the company, does not exist. And I forgot to mention why their toffees and caramels were so awesome. They were way too stiff to start chewing right away, so I would let them sit on my tongue until my saliva was infused with their flavor. (Sorry, I can’t think of a less graphic way to explain it.) So it was not just eating a piece of candy; it was a fifteen-minute experience.
And now they’re no more. And I have yet to find anything comparable. Anyone have a suggestion?
Walker makes good British toffee. There licorice ones are especially good.
There were some things you can no longer easily get in Canada but I’ve seen in the US (some time ago). Tahiti Treat pop; Fruit Stripe gum; Grins, Smiles, Giggles and Laughs cereal; Moxie (tastes weird to me, my brother likes it); Colby cheese; Heath bars; Mexico fruit paletas; philly steak strips; anything with Olestra.
I have seen Old Tyme Ginger Beer here. Occasionally, specialty stores also have awesome Jamaican Ginger Cake and canned pudding (including sticky toffee, but probably not Heinz).
Canadian stuff no longer sold here: apple pie ice cream (vanilla with chunks of pie); Choc-o-lotto, bubble gum cigars; Gold Rush gum nuggets; Fruit Brute; Pepperettes in a small package; Milk Mate; Rice Krispie Square cereal; Schwartz’s Smoked meat brisket at Costco. It’s only the last one that I miss.
