Over the past decade we’ve had a couple of these cases in Queensland. Here the owners have escaped murder and manslaughter convictions.

However technically speaking (the bane of legal systems IMO) we’re not allowed to use ‘excessive force.’ Which basically means if he has a baseball bat you can use a baseball bat or equivalent - but nothing more than that. Using a gun would be illegal.

Having said that common sense has prevailed thus far. Only a matter of time though…

That is scary. I don’t have guns in the house anymore, since I have kids living there now, but up until two weeks ago, I had a shotgun by my bed every night with shells in the dresser.
