Food in Film

This thread, on how restaurants prepare risotto immediately developed into a discussion about the film Big Night, and that got me thinking; it’s been a while since we had a Food in Film discussion.

Some old threads, Movies about food and Best Movie Food Scenes

So, what’s new out there?

There’s the Devil’s Tower scene in Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Yeah, it’s probably not what you’re looking for.

The sitcom Big Bang Theory has the characters constantly sitting around eating their take-out food, and it always makes me hungry. I wish I could subsist entirely on take-out Thai, Indian, Chinese, etc.

If food were sex, The Age of Innocence would be hardcore.

Then there’s the Rocky Horror Picture Show: “Oh no! Meat Loaf again!”

There was a fun little kitchen scene in 9 1/2 Weeks (and a great parody of it in Hot Shots).

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom: “Iced Monkey Brains!”

The first film to come to mind for me was Last Supper. It’s from '95 though, so it isn’t particularly new.

Ratatouille was pretty good. I haven’t been able to find a copy of Big Night yet unfortunately.

I saw Dinner Rush starring Danny Aiello on sale at the Dollar Store the other day for a fin. I just barely remember seeing it back in 2001 or something. Don’t remember too much… most popular Italian Restaurant in NY, a gambling sous chef, and the mob moving in.
