AND grilled cheese sandwiches. The only way I’ll eat them!
I always have some Bud Light Lime in the boat cooler. If another boat offers a beer trade, I never mention the BLL and I hide my bottle if I’m drinking one.
Yes! I have never understood why chocolate lovers put down Hersheys. It’s just a different chocolate. I have heard it described as “tangy” but to me it is just chocolate. There are a wide range of different chocolates, they are all good. Except for dark chocolate - it’s not for me, I don’t care how many people get all ecstatic about it.
I never hear people put down European butters because they are tangy.

Most vegetarian meats taste good, but not like real meat. Especially the bacon.
And their fries, which people seem to idolize even more than the burgers, are crap. Yes, I know they are “made fresh”. They are still very bad.
Supermarket sushi. I’ve had some great sushi in Japan, but the stuff sold in US supermarkets is generally enjoyable.
(Unless it’s made of brown rice, then it just falls apart. I love brown rice but it just doesn’t work in anything resembling sushi.)
Well, considering I go to taco bell like once a week, I will have to add pretty much everything there to the list. I like authentic mexican better obviously, but that is pricey and slow.
Who the hell likes In N Out Burgers fries mores than their burgers Now, I admit, there are some people out there who like them. But not once in my life has anybody ever praised In N Out fries directly to me (I’m from out of there area, so I don’t hear about them that often. But their burgers are really about the best burgers out there, and most definitely so for their style (fast food), better than every $14 restaurant burger I’ve had.) I would die for those burgers, but those fries… I just don’t get it. How can they get them so wrong?
Jack in the Box tacos - Greasy, mystery meat, greasy, crunchy greasy - not even close to being a good quality taco, but oh so satisfying. Did I mention the grease?
I love Hersey’s chocolate for what it is, but consider other chocolates truer to the definition of chocolate. This supported by this which shows that Hersey’s milk chocolate barely qualifies as milk chocolate:
“Note that I have not included milk, milk solids or nonfat milk among the ingredients because I don’t consider milk chocolate to be chocolate. It’s just candy. Milk chocolate contains so much milk and sugar that its percentage of true cacao may be as low as 10 percent, the minimum required by the FDA for calling it “chocolate” on the label. Hershey’s milk chocolate contains about 11 percent cacao. In contrast, a serious dark chocolate bar will contain anywhere from 65 percent to 85 percent cacao.”

BTW, I also really like certain Japanese milk chocolate which likely contains even less “chocolate” components and more milk and often has an odd ‘waxy’ taste and texture because it doesn’t melt in the mouth as quickly as quality milk chocolate does.
“Chinese” food. I love it, as long as I’m not comparing it to what they eat in China.
A ground beef patty, topped with grilled onions. No, it’s not a porterhouse. But when I’m in the mood for it, it doesn’t need to be.
Although I am a huge fan of the burgers (again, in comparison to similar level burgers), I 100% agree with you on the fries.
Interesting you should mention that - I work for a company with a large Iowa presence and had a colleague who transferred down to our North Texas facility. He claimed that he could never find a place in the D/FW area nearly as good as his Iowa hangout. Guess it’s all what you’re used to…
Speaking of Taco Cabana, Rosa’s Cantina is my new go-to fast-food Tex-Mex. Probably does not qualify for this thread, however, as it’s actually really good. In the proper spirit, I’ll offer Jack-in-the-Box tacos as my “They suck as tacos but are actually good as a separate food category.”
Edit - Bubbadog beat me to the Jack tacos - but I still might pick up a few tonight…
Wienerschnitzel junk yard dog. A ¼ pound hot dog with chili, cheese, and fries on top.
On-Cor frozen lasagna. About $3.49 for 28 oz. Good and filling.
Turkey bacon. The best comes from Jennie-O. Nice and lean, doesn’t splatter, and tastes close enough to the real thing.
Ohh…Anything from the Costco / Sam’s Club food concession. Hot dog, pizza, chicken wrap, etc. Really good for the price, even for twice the price. But great? No.
Out of nostalgia for my college days in southern New England, I’ve been buying white American cheese, sliced at a delicatessen.
If you ordered a cheeseburger in New Haven, or a tuna salad grinder, this was the cheese that went on it.
I use it on cheeseburgers, tuna melts (the home version of a tuna grinder), breakfast sandwiches with egg and bacon, and for grilled cheese sandwiches.
I like the On-Cor tray with Salisbury steaks and gravy. I usually serve it on top either egg noodles or white rice.
Thanks for posting this. I’m gonna have to try On-Cor Salisbury steaks. They appear to be a terrific value, especially if they’re actually tasty.
mashed potato flakes. They’re OK, but let’s not pretend they are real mashed potatoes.
