Foods that make it hard to eat healthy

Hello everyone. I’m fasting today (intermittent fasting), and so of course I’m sitting here fantasizing about food. When I’m not fasting, I try to eat healthy, which is easier in some circumstances than others. Here are a few circumstances that make it hard for me:

(1) When people bring homemade goodies into the rescue squad. I volunteer at the rescue squad, and people bring snacks in and leave them in the kitchen all the time. If it’s some mass-produced convenience food, I can probably resist it. But set down some homemade dessert that I have to keep walking past and it’s very hard to resist.

(2) Noodles. Noodles can be healthy, but I love them whether or not they’re healthy. Macaroni and cheese, lasagna, all those Thai dishes – when I see noodles on the menu, I’m often tempted to forego the grilled whatever with the healthy vegetables and get the noodles instead.

(3) Sugary drinks. I never liked soda, and I drink my coffee without sugar (but with creamer). But in the winter, I am a sucker for lattes and mochas and hot chocolates (I ask for less syrup, but even with less syrup is still gets sugary). Then in the summer I crave smoothies or frappuccinos. If I’m at home I can stay healthy, but god help me if I’m in a shopping center with a smoothie or coffee place!

What about you guys? What tempts you when you’re trying to be healthy?

Pizza.
Beer.

Pizza and beer.

Pasta, rice, biscuits and gravy, potato chips; basically, anything carb.

Justin’s goddamn Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter cups.

Thin, crisp French fries.

Real chocolate malts.

Home-baked pie.

Impossible to leave alone any of these goodies.

On the other hand, there are plenty of healthy things that I love just as much, so there you go.

Green Beans. Hard not to make them with out throwing in a can of Cream of Mushroom soup along with some crisp bacon.

Peanut M&Ms

And pizza

Blenheim’s extra hot ginger ale

Home-made hash browns with onions caramelized in butter and dressed with grated sharp cheddar

Gelato

Mac and cheese made with bacon, sour cream, and aged cheddar

Dobos torte

I’ll stop now, though I bet I could add a thousand more items without difficulty. But I’m making myself too hungry.

Cheese.

Doritos. I could eat those things all day.

Potato chips or tortilla chips. Any kind as long as they’re salty. I could go through several tubes of Pringles in one sitting if I had enough beer to wash them down.

You left off “burgers”.

Macaroni and Cheese! A good mac and cheese is to fucking die for and I wish I could eat it everyday.

Also a good spaghetti with hot Italian sausage. And garlic bread.

Also Cake. Just about any kind.

I could actually go on and on. So I’ll shut up instead.

This is sorta funny to me only because i’m the exact opposite. I’ve started getting very squirrelly around food people bring from home unless I’ve been to their house and know how they function in a kitchen. But that’s a personal problem

For me, I can’t resist pizza. It’s so easy to just walk by and grab a slice without even thinking about it-- especially dangerous because pizza’s one of those foods for me that one slice is DEFINITELY NOT ENOUGH!

You don’t understand.

I mean, sure, cheeseburgers. But my cheese difficulty is finding half a pound of good cheese, and then running out of cheese the next day.

I’m a meat and potatoes kind of guy. So, meat and potatoes.

I reject the idea “unhealthy food”. Being happy is a huge part of being healthy.

I eat what I want. And I’ll wind up as dead as everybody else.

Foolin’ myself? You bet. Works for me.

Chocolate. Any chocolate. More chocolate.

Oops, I ate all the chocolate.

I’ve always told myself these are healthy! Organic, with 4 grams protein.

Root vegetables are my friends!!!

Chips or crisps of all sorts.

CAKE!!!

Right there. And yet the damn temptress pizza makers continue to sell their extra large single-serving pizzas.
