My wife just got a big container of roasted/salted soybeans. Very tasty, I actually like them. She explained that they are a good source of fiber, protein, and estrogen. (I never knew that food could be a source of hormones) She said that it would be very good for post-menopausal women to eat these to help replace estrogen.
Hmmmmm got me thinking… If sexual desire can be increased with injections of testosterone in postmenopausal women, is there a food that is high in testosterone that would increase libido in pre-menopausal women?
You don’t get hormones like testosterone and estrogen directly out of your food, but indirectly, some chemicals in the foods we eat stimulate production of these hormones. As to what you can eat to up your body’s hormone production? I don’t know, but I’ll look into it.
If at first you don’t succeed you’re about average.
Actually, testosterone supplementation is a treatment for low libido in women. It is used with increasing frequency in post-menopausal women. Testosterone is the primary hormone that determines sex drive in both sexes.
