Foods You Can Eat In One Form, But Not In Another

Yep

Yeah, this.

Also, I’m another one of those who can’t stand raw tomatoes. A tomato has to be the vilest “food” that people regularly eat and that a lot of people actually like (“shudder”). But, I do like certain tomato-based sauces, such as BBQ sauce, spaghetti sauce, and salsa. However, the spaghetti sauce can have NO chunks of stewed tomatoes, and any salsa has to be the thin spicy kind. None of that nasty"restaurant style" salsa with tomato chunks in it.

I will put a bit of ketchup on a burger or hot dog, but only if there is nothing else to moisten it up with (such as BBQ, Tabasco, or mayo). I would never in a million years put ketchup on a french fry.

Me too.

Also, I love crab cakes but hate other forms of crab.

I like apples any way you can fix them, raw, baked, in cakes and pies
but I don’t like apple butter or applesauce.

I love tomatoes raw or any way you can fix them except I don’t like tomato juice or tomato soup.

The only fruit I can eat cooked are apples, I don’t like any fruit pies except apple and I don’t like fruit in cake.

I love lemonade, it is my favorite drink, but don’t like anything else flavored with lemon.

I’m just the opposite. I love pickles, but cannot eat cucumbers.

I hate yoghurt and sour cream in their pure forms, they taste like spoiled food to me. In sauces, though, I’m fine with them.

I cannot eat fried or boiled eggs. I’m fine with them scrambled and in omelets.

Chickpeas? No.

Hummus? All day long.

Olives? Absolutely not. Never.

Olive oil? The staff of life.

I have some eating issues relating to texture, so there are a lot of these. Raw tomatoes, off the top of my head - I love most of the by-products of the tomato, including cooked, pasted, sauced, ketchuped…

I like most forms of sugar, but I still can’t eat sprinkles on ice cream.

Ditto. It isn’t so much the flavor as it is the fact that raw cukes give me unholy gas. But I love all forms of pickle.

I used to be a tomato-hating person, but not for the last 10 years or so. Now I love a garden-picked raw tomato over just about anything.

I’m struggling to think of anything in line with the OP - I mean, “I like herring, I hate surströmming” isn’t quite in the right spirit, is it?

Oh, wait - I love steak-and-kidney pie, I don’t like devilled kidneys.

Peanut butter as peanut butter, yes. Peanut butter flavor, or peanut butter fudge, never!

Scrambled or fried eggs are awesome, boiled eggs smell like death.

Bananas are great peeled and fresh, but not cooked and banana flavored anything is out. Same applies to carrots (with an exception for carrot cake, but not for banana bread).

Are you one of my kids?

I have a friend who, though she loves salads, can’t stand if the lettuce is shredded.

I like bologna, but dislike hot dogs. They seem to be the same thing–pressed spiced “parts.”

Exact opposite here… I can tolerate raw onions on a salad or hamburger, but I absolutely cannot stomach cooked/grilled/caramelized onions. When I make spaghetti sauce, I cook it long enough to make sure that there are no more identifiable onion bits.

Hate olives, love tapenade.

(That’s gotta beat “hate olives; OK with olive oil,” which are really two different things, no?:))

Liverwurst in all forms is great - had some wonderful variations while living in Germany -with truffles, with apricot pieces, etc.

However, I can’t even stand the sight nor smell of liver…

Me too…can’t stand raw tomatoes, love tomato sauce…
