Sometime this fall I was watching a football game or a baseball playoff game, and the commentator told the story of a player of one of the two sports who had been suffering from a chronic injury. Said player’s car broke down on a highway somewhere, and said player–obviously with an unwarranted high opinion of his automotive skills–attempted to repair it. In doing so, he gave himself “the shock of his life”, according to the commentator, and noticed a few days later that his injured part (whatever it was) had stopped hurting entirely. He went back on the field as a new man/athlete.
So here are my questions, because I didn’t pay enough attention at the time and now can’t remember anything more detailed than the above description:
- Which sport was it and who was the athlete?
- What was his injury?
- When did it happen?
- What exactly was the story–what broke, what did he try to fix (I’m presuming it was related to the starter or battery in some way), and how?
- Is there medical/scientific basis for his miraculous recovery?
