Heh, now I’m goin’ after SoulFrost. That’ll confuse 'em!
(Contrary to what I thought, Ghoti didn’t get too pissed at me over that science thing.)
I’m determined to get to 50 messages posted by tonight (I’m at 40 right now).

Look! He’s talking to himself again!
This ain’t exactly a debate, is it?
Fighting my own ignorance since 1957.
Yes it is!
(There, happy now?)
I dunno if I’m gonna make 50. Wife got back from the store and I’m only at 44. (I’m a poet and didn’t even know it.) Besides, not enough people are responding – it’s not like it was earlier when 5 messages were being posted every minute.
Hey, Jab, post something there so I can argue with you!
Just for the record, will there come a time when all you altar (heh) ego posters come out of the closet and admit that Satan himself inspired you to visit the site?
Livin’ on Tums, Vitamin E and Rogaine
Well, I did it and I feel really guilty.
I’m going to be easing myself in slowly, especially as I have better things to do on weekends than sit at my computer. I might start asking “reasonable” questions from work on Monday.
Dave-- They LOVE Daniel over there. Good work.
AHHHHH! That’s too rich!!!
DAVID…you gonna post any clues about your name? Nah, you’d just get a thousand smilies for your trouble…
-Da UDDAH David
DrF: A fisher of men, eh?
Yeah, they love Daniel. What can I say? I suspect they’ll begin to love him less as he types more, but we’ll see…
Let’s see if my criticisms of Hovind reach them. Should be interesting. (I was gonna reference an article from The REALL News, but I figured that might be pushing it right now.
)
Nope, not gonna post any hints on the name. If they can’t figure it out between that and the beagles & finches reference in my interests, they don’t deserve to know.
And I’m not sure if/when I’ll let on that I was sent by Satan. I think Satan should sign on first and ask them all if they know who his minions there are.
Hey, RTF, you stole my idea on *s!
54, and now I gotta go.
Oh! Will ya, Satan? Huh, huh? Will ya?

Da UDDAH David
The hook is set. The reeling has begun.
Ghoti bit on the Asimov “circle of the earth” bit, saying it was all metaphorical (actually, he said it was a “simile”). Ok, so if that’s a metaphor, how do we know the 6 days of creation aren’t?
I’m sure he’ll wriggle away somehow, so maybe I should get out a net.
I KNEW you ******* wou have a field day there!
I went there once to post an open letter to the person who inspired me to go in the first place (my explanation is elsewhere in this thread) under the name justadude, and I was promptly banned. Feel free to search for that one post to see what a horrible thing I did to get banned after one post.
The mod who banned me, when I e-mailed him to ask him about it, accused me of being some other poster because my IP address was the same. I asked him to prove that, seeing I was on a dial-up, and he changed it to say that the ISP was the same. How many million Prodigy users are there?
Anyway, I am enjoying watching you guys go to work. The way “nightmare” handled the question about his convictions was amusing, for example, and I see David is getting a wee bit more bold and contemptuous by the post! And Jab is getting in a few jabs as well!
Can’t wait to se what happens next…
Yer pal,
Satan
I wasn’t sure at first, David, how I felt about your jumping in to the Biblical Errors thread, but I’m glad you’re there. You’ve raised some genuinely good questions (you notice I followed up on your metaphor/simile line with the question of whether Gen.1-11 and other OT stories could be parables, understood as not to be taken literally by their original audience.
Satan, I’m glad you’re enjoying watching the fun - I’ve always believed that a happy Devil is the best kind. .
Satan: Do you have any other way to get back on? I know they don’t allow free web-based mail accounts to use it, but how can they say you were somebody else when they can check with Prodigy to find out who you actually are (provided you let them)? That’s fairly ridiculous.
But to save time, just what did you say to get you banned?
And, yes, Daniel is getting bolder. In fact, (shhh, don’t tell) he has sent an e-mail to Genie Scott of the National Center for Science Education to see what the context of a quote of hers was (Ghoti posted it).
RTF: If there are any threads you would rather I not jump into, let me know. If you’re working a particularly good piece of bait, I’d hate to get our lines tangled.
Hey, RTF, they closed your * thread! The noive of some people!
Before I forget, I wanna point out one other amusing thing I noticed in the FIRST “Biblical Errancy” thread.
Remember when Thomas first asked Nightmare whether he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and Nightmare responded by asking “Why do you ask?”?
Thomas responded by saying you shouldn’t respond to a question with a question. But in the Gospel of Luke, Jesus answers questions with other questions all the time! (E.g. “Whose face is on this coin?”)
I guess Jesus just wasn’t living up to Thomas’s standards.
At the risk of seeming even more insufferably stuffy that I usually am: are you guys having fun yet?
I have noticed that when someone brings “their friends” in from some other board to engage the SDMB in a bit of combat, there are immediate cries of impropriety, trollery, (and usually buggery). Why is it OK for us to do the same to another board?
As several posters, here, have noted, there are issues in which that whole board seems generally reasonable (school prayer) and there are also posters over there who seem quite reasonable. We all know that there have to be fora around the 'net that will attract the audience that supports that board. Are we going to seek all those sites out to proselytize them with the Straight Dope?
I’m just curious. I would say that I haven’t seen anything we’ve done so far that is truly disruptive, but checking-in back here to report on our progress seems just a bit middle-school/junior-high to me. I suspect that that attitude is going to promote disruption at some point (even if they do have some fairly tight-ass rules).
As I said, I don’t think that any SDMB posters have committed any crimes–yet. We might, however, want to think about what we’re doing there, ultimately.
