My father’s a fairly theologically conservative Methodis preacher. I haven’t had a chance to talk to him about his views on the Left Behind series yet, but I’m lookign forward to his response.
Mostly, I’m wondering if there really is a nationwide trend towards A) “traditional” evangelical Rapture beliefs and B) inerrancy.
He’s a little (ok, a lot) more in touch with mainstream protestantism in this country than most of the folks on the LBMB.

And, finally, whatdya mean we got 4 new creationists over here? This is the first thread I’ve read since getting back from Thanksgiving at my parents (didn’t get any chance at all to even check into this MB). If true, that certainly is a coincidence, but unless Kat2 or somebody else stumbled onto this thread and let those folks know, I don’t know that it’s related (besides, why wouldn’t they call us out or ban us there?). Hmmmmm.

Speaking of the Left Behind book series:
The local K-Mart has one (1) small aisle devoted to selling books. One of the shelf sections in this aisle – about the width and height of a refrigerator – was devoted to religious/inspirational books.
Of the five shelves of religious/inspirational books for sale at this K-Mart, THREE of those shelves contained nothing but Left Behind books. (One of the three contained Left Behind for Kids books, set in the same post-rapture universe but written for children.)

Well, I just had my first chance to get back to the other MB. I see that most/all of the creation/evolution threads have died. Monk kept bumping the Hubble thread in the End Times area (he’s a conspiracy monger), so I’m replying to his nonsense, but that’s about it right now…
Soulfrost seems to be holding down the fort for us. He even did some research to disprove a claim about a guy playing D&D and then murdering his parents.
It’s funny how the fundamentalist mind works, isn’t it: get really into D&D and kill your parents - should stop that evil D&D. But get really into guns and kill your parents - that’s different; we KNOW there’s nothing wrong with guns, so why do anything about them?
Sorry to do another one of these several messages in a row, but I was just perusing the threads over there and couldn’t even find the various creation/evolution ones. Where’d they go? And, yes, I set it to see all threads back 10 days, which is before Thanksgiving. Any ideas? Were they archived? Were they deleted? (I also did a search for the Cabbage Patch thread, and even used the link posted earlier here, and could not find it [the link got me a “cannot display” message].)

David - I just used their search engine to find my username. It listed nine threads that I’d participated in (it missed at least one); seven have been wiped out. (Tried to link to them from the search results, got the same link-not-found message.) The exceptions are ‘Depression and Christians’, and ‘What Are Souls?’, FWIW.
I also had the main ‘Narrow Road’ page list the threads going back 20 days, which is before Satan told us about the site, and none of the missing threads showed up.
I must admit I suspect them of doing a purge of posts they find disturbing, by wiping out the ‘evil’ threads. But I’m willing to let that be their problem.

I just posted a reply Over There at the “How Old is the Earth?” thread.
They have an announcement from Admin Over There called “Time’s Makin’ Changes” that explains why some threads are now lost, apparently forever. (lack of disk space, system crashes, etc.)
I’m glad to be back, but I won’t be here all day today. I need a vacation to recover from my holiday.

One of the topics in the “Narrow Road” forum is titled “Adultery - Need Help”.
It wasn’t asking what I was hoping it was asking at ALL.
Funny how their “disk crash” killed off so many threads in which there was heated debate going on but left others intact…
Also, I noticed that Soulfrost found a way to type “porn” without getting *'d – capitalize the “p” and their program doesn’t catch it!
I noticed that too, tracer - what a disappointment.
Did you notice on their FAQ, it says you can discuss premarital sex but not masturbation? I will never understand those people.
I had a fit of insanity, and posted on their The Bible: Scripture Is Sufficient thread. The gist is that many fundies believe that all moral truth is either in the Bible, or can be straightforwardly derived from it.
I asked whether that applied to slavery, or was slavery still A-OK with God. I figure I’ll stay out of it from here on, and just lurk to see what they come up with, but I’ll bet some people there say nothing’s wrong with it.
Hey, one person said we should stone people who claim to be prophets. While I’m certainly skeptical of “psychics,” even I wouldn’t go that far!
‘Daniel,’ I see you’re trying to transplant the ‘Why Pray’ thread to the Left Behind board. Do you think they’ll come up with any better answers than Polycarp, Jeffery, Jodi, Keith, eden, etc., and yours truly have managed to reach, so far?
(Despite the fact that we haven’t been able to satisfy Gaudere (or you), I think it’s been a pretty impressive discussion; one of the deepest and best I’ve ever been a part of, online.)
Or are you doing it just to torture their poor little brains (if you can call what they have in their skulls ‘brains’)? If so, my hat’s off to you.
