For David B, the good Doctor and others who are knowledgable about Creation debate

Damn. Well, it was 98. This’ll be 99, then.
mumble . . .mumble . . . gotta get a life . . .mumble

mumble . . . gotta learn to count . . .

Well, at least we got it up to Page Three.

Fighting my own ignorance since 1957.

Ok, well, since we got it on a new page, I’ll leave it. The widening effect isn’t a big deal 'cus it only applies to the buttons on top, not the messages themselves.

Back to our regularly-scheduled messages (you know, the discussion we were having before we were posting just to post  ).

Jab, how’d you like BANE, in the thread on extrasolar planets? Obviously, he has it all figured out and professional astronomers are all idiots…

I did point out to him that hydrogen won’t burn without oxygen. And that the planet may have only recently arrived in its present orbit and probably won’t be there much longer, since it’s apparently being consumed by the star. I even brought up the possibility that it’s not even a planet at all, but a star that no longer shines because its partner star was consuming it and it’s now too small. And if it shone more than seven thousand years ago, there’d be no written record of it. (Humans didn’t learn to write 'till six thousand years ago. Thought I should give myself some wriggle room.)

Gotta go, y’all. They’re about to close down here. See ya tomorrow.

See ya, Jab. Daniel’s gettin’ ready to go to sleep, I think.

Occam, I asked a post-doc in human biology and genetics to get me a USED current college biology text and for $21 she bought me: BIOLOGY, 5th edition, pub by Worth; authors: Curtis and Barnes. The first 9 pages cover “The Road to Evolution” plus. Very readable.

It weights around 7,000 lbs so ask about shipping… www.powells.com might have them, other places, too.

Occam, I asked a post-doc to find me a used current college biology text and she came up with a used one for $21.00.

Biology 5th Edition
Authors: Curtis & Barnes
Pub: Worth Publishing

The first 9 pages cover Pre Darwin evolution and onward; the next few cover scientific method, unifying principles of modern biology , scientists and human values and science as process… All very readable.

Rest looks good, too.

Try Powells: www.powells.com… Ask about shipping, it weights tons.

So now you know: I don’t know what anything weighs! I must have been trying to send this while you were playing with the wide page?
Sorry.

Hello. My name is Kevin, and I’m a recovering lurker. Anywayz, I’ve been reading here, and reading there, and found it to be enlightening, if nothing else. So, how many here have been posting on both boards?
(sorry 'bout the completely pointless message, I’ll get better with time. :))

Notice: The techs are going to have to go in and work their magic on Polycarp’s message today. Please do not access Page 2 of this thread today. Also, please please please do not post scripts and the like into threads. I know Polycarp didn’t mean for this to happen, but if stuff like this happens again, the admins may disable HTML.

Thanks.

Too late - done did. But I won’t do it again.

Accessed page 2, that is. (Don’t worry, David, I wouldn’t dream of posting anything complicated - Javascript, etc - here; I enjoy this board too much to take a chance on messing it up.)

RT, I see that Thomas is taking a beating over there from the other regs for demanding that you answer his question about whether you accept Christ yadda yadda yadda.

I see it even got him to apologize. Whaddaya know?

Sure, RTF, he apologized. But by golly it was grudging. He still thinks you’re a heathen bastard intent on vile slander of God’s Truth.

Go get 'em!

And I think a quotation from your namesake would be appropriate:

-andros-

Thanks for quoting me; being president of Freedonia was the most fun I’ve ever had, especially when I got to insult Ambassador Trentino.

What Thomas thinks of me is pretty much his problem, at this point. I doubt that a written note from God could convince him that I’m one of the faithful, so why bother trying?

OK, I admit it…I went to the LeftBehind boards expecting to find platitude-spewing, more-holy-than-thou rabid fundies. Well, I found 'em.

But I also found several surprises. Many of the regs there can actually debate! There are discussions there that (almost) rival the debates here.

The whole “Should we put prayer back into public schools” thread totally shocked me–I wasn’t prepared to find that the majority of the posters said “No, we should not”.

Things are getting interesting…
