I do find it interesting that someone compared Der Trihs to the recently departed VCO3. I think that’s spot on.

Of course, as his viewpoints are supported by some folks, in particular his anti-war/anti-american/anti-Bush stances, I don’t expect him to get banned for his trolling anytime soon.

Because that’s exactly what it is, trolling.

Also, those asking him to come here and speak up? Don’t bother. He is too much of a coward to appear in these pit threads.

Actually, no they don’t belong to the side they think they’re on, because this is the really real world and not subjective universe fantasyland. Shit doesn’t change just because you think it should on Planet Earth in the Milky Way Galaxy. Right, the last time I tried to bring the facts that my brother had observed while in Iraq into the debate, he called my brother a liar and a killer. Indeed, he said that he had been brainwashed by the military to lie about anything and everything.

When I tried to point out the good things that relgious organizations had done, he said they are just PR, trying to trick me into liking them.

I don’t debate him in GD because there’s no fucking point. In GD he is a troll, period.

I’m with you. I’ve tried to debate him. Then I gave up - you can’t debate a fanatic, even if he is right, but most particularly when he’s wrong.

And on the rare occasion when he’s on my side (about religion, but without the black-and-white idiocy) I always die a little inside.

Has he every admitted to making a mistake in GD? We have a few posters like that, who stake out a position, then either twist the facts to support that position, or ignore the facts altogether while refusing to give up that position. Or, saying something like: I don’t have a cite, but I’m 100% certain I read this 25 years ago in a magazine. :rolleyes: You can’t debate a person like that, but I do think there is value in correcting the ignorance he spreads-- there are lots of lurkers who may not be familiar with his stubborn refusal to deal with facts rather than simply spouting some unsupported opinion.

Yes, quite a few of us atheists/agnostics are none too happy to see him chime in on our side of a debate.
