For The Ghoulish Amongst Us: John Mark Karr's Emails Have Been Released

You can read them here. I don’t have any interest in them, but somebody here probably does. Note that the link takes you directly to the page hosting them, there’s a brief introductory paragraph and then you get right into the emails.

Is this what the reporters keep referring to as “containing statements too disturbing to share”?

Personally, I have no problem with most things, provided there’s some historical or explanatory content. But I’m not interested in seeing just how far down that freak can reach.

Gah, what a sick man :frowning:
Now I feel like shit.

I read like the first five or six lines and then realized - I really don’t want this in my brain cells, do I? And closed it.

I recommend everyone who like me has a tendency to open/read things before they really think about it to think, and think hard before they decide to read it.

I only read to about page 10 or so, but just that exposure produced two very strong beliefs:

  1. The professor is a complete and utter tool for not realizing that Karr is bug-fucking nuts. He emailed with Karr for how long and actually considered him a viable suspect? Jesus.

  2. I ended up with more creepy vibes from said professor than I do from Karr, based on the snippets of his correspondance that Karr was responding to, especially those at the bottom of page 7.

I can, at least, see why he couldn’t be totally ignored as a suspect at first. He was likely a crackpot, but at the time his “details” do seem realistic enough (remember this is before all the bunk about him walking her home from school or him drugging her).

I can toally see why the authorities wanted to investigate him further, but what I can’t understand is why they wouldn’t want to put him under surveillance long enough to obtain his DNA (from a discarded coffee cup or tissue for example) and test it before swooping in on him.

They had to know even bringing a guy in for questioning after 10 years was going to set off a media firestorm and possibly damage the case further. After all, we now all know the things “only the killer would know” are JonBenet’s wearing of an “adult” perfume, her having a runny nose and some more details on the supposed stun-gun.

I don’t do well at following the news, and I don’t want to jump blindly into some sort of macabre insanity, so would someone please enlighten me? Thanks!

I haven’t read them, I probably won’t read them.

Wasn’t one of the key pieces of evidence that Karr allegedly knew stuff about the crime scene that wasn’t previously disclosed? Is that info public, now that Karr’s emails are public?

I’m reminded of this Onion article.

I understand that they did attempt to do so, but could not get a clean sample. I read this in one of the local papers, and could be remembering wrong.

Despite the protestations of the Boulder County D.A., it’s pretty clear that at this point in time, there is no such hidden evidence.
