For the history fans

British University Newsreel Database

From the site:

Looks like fun!

Cool.
Ohmigod. I’m a geek. Worse yet, I’m not even a technology geek. I’m a history geek.

I suspect we are all some kind of geek

Do they have footage of what happened to King Alexander of Yugoslavia in 1934?

I was just going to ask the same exact thing! Are you interested in Aleksandar too?

Can one access these films at the site?

No, but I am interested in the history of film censorship, and that newsreel in question (as you already know what it is, I won’t tell you) is of interest because of efforts made in 1934 to prevent its’ release to the general public.

Ooh! Ooh! Something for me to bookmark tomorrow at work. “Umm, I’m doing research for this article in the July issue . . .”

It’s not hard to find over the web-I know of several places where you can find it.

I believe it was the first assassination ever caught on motion picture.

Wow! Newsreels from every year’s Test cricket matches between 1910 and 1939…I am in awe. Must…resist…urge to buy…

I was hoping you would see this, Eve. I thought of you, but you have no email listed. Have fun
