For what it's worth I'm with JB99

Potty mouth!

Careful.

You are revealing yourself too much to be a troll and a sock from “The Unnamed Place.” “The Place That Can Not Be Named.” “The Place Of The Potty Mouths.” “The Unnamed Place Of The Potty Mouths Who Can Not Be Named.” “The Unnamed Potty Mouths Of Who Can Not Be Named Because Of Their Potty Mouths From The Unnamed Place Of The Potty Mouths.”

“Ooooohhhhhhh Of The Spooky!”

“Soooooooooo much of the spooky potty moutheded’eds.”

FWIW this is completely fabricated. It’s not even a distortion of anything I’ve said.

I’m flattered that tardy smurf has honored me with another incoherent post. What does spooky have to do with anything? You said you’d leave him out of it.

No, he does not. He’s just a raving idiot. I once got into trouble in GD (which, granted, is not the Pit) for making a mild joke about OCD. You’re making a much more egregious one by equating the behavior of one of our resident morons with Asperger’s. I don’t think you know what the word means, and trying to make that parallel is a very poor reflection on you.

WillFarnaby does not present as having Asperger’s. He presents as being fundamentally disconnected from reality, and in his delusional brain the fact that almost everyone disagrees with him on almost everything stands as proof of his unique genius. There are various terms, in common parlance and in clinical practice, to describe this syndrome, but the most fitting word I can think of at the moment to describe WillFarnaby is “delusional”, and possibly insane.

He displays a complete lack of social skills, and is fixated on his belief system, which is highly detailed and internally consistent but falls to pieces upon the slightest contact with empirical fact. I don’t think his problem is actual low intelligence so much as a lack of the ability to adjust his beliefs by integrating feedback from the outside world. Obviously I can’t diagnose someone based on reading message board posts, but those all seem pretty Aspergerish to me.

And as a board certified psychiatrist I’d be interested in hearing what credentials you have that qualify you to judge my knowledge of diagnostic terminology.

How about the fact that no such thing as your “diagnostic terminology” of Asperger’s has even existed in the DSM-5 since 2003?

What I know is the diagnostic criteria for the former disorder, and the fact that the one thing everyone gets upset with the poster about is not one of them.

Sure, poor social skills and fixations are part of the diagnostic criteria. But the main issue is the internally consistent belief system that resists outside feedback. That is what people are upset with him over, and that isn’t part of the criteria.

I also know that there are several admitted high functioning people on the spectrum on this board. (The OP, for example.) Most don’t seem to have this problem. And I know people with oddly resistant worldviews on this board that I’m fairly certain are not on the spectrum.

I can’t say he isn’t on the spectrum. But I will say I don’t think that the actual reason people are upset with him indicates an Asperger’s diagnosis, even back when that was a recognized disorder.

Personally, if I needed to associate some diagnosis with this behavior, I’d look into the personality disorders. “They involve long-term patterns of thoughts and behaviors that are unhealthy and inflexible.”

You’re all overthinking it - WillFarnaby has simply not (yet) outgrown the Ayn Rand fanboy stage that infects some of us who read her books in our early twenties.

It’s something he does a lot, too. He often brings up this distorted version of the past, usually in completely unrelated threads, as an attempt to attack people he doesn’t like. It doesn’t matter if those things were dealt with, or if he wasn’t even the aggrieved party and they’ve all moved on.

In fact, the fact that he persists despite it not working over and over (even getting him Warnings at times) is an example of someone I’m pretty sure isn’t on the spectrum having an oddly resistant belief. You’d think by now he’d get that this is pointless.

Of course, he could also know it’s pointless but know it gets under the skin of people he uses it on, and just not care how it makes him look. It’s not a perfect example.

It blows my mind that so many people seem so comfortable throwing “autistic” or variants thereof around as an insult.

Is that what so many people are doing? Looks to me like they’re using the diagnosis in lieu of insults, i.e. “he’s not really a brain-dead fucker of goats, though he might sound like it; he has an actual medical disorder.”

As a board-certified anelectroencephalographic capriphile I’d be interested to hear what credentials you have that qualify you to be so glib about people with my condition.

This was a pit thread…to nowhere.

What kind of romantic advice would you give BPC? He went from Mrs. Robinson to Lolita and his hormones will never be the same.

Is “for the good of the gene pool, please double-bag it” appropriate?

Heh. When I wrote that post I considered mentioning that and decided it would be unnecessarily pedantic, as well as being completely beside the point at hand. But thanks for clarifying that for us.

No shit! When I just came back on I was staring at the Pit main page trying to remember which thread this was…oh, yeah, the JB77 one! Who the hell is JB77 again?

I think his political rants could be construed as meeting criteria B.1:

Also I was responding to my subjective reaction to him. He doesn’t enrage me like some of the other right-wing trolls sometimes do, I think because I have a sense that this may actually* be* the best he can do.

You could definitely make a case for an Axis II diagnosis (free shot, wolfpup!). But it’s clear to me that even jokingly diagnosing someone on the internet isn’t a good idea, so I’m going to try to quietly tiptoe away from this conversation and let you get back to JB77.

And you left out that his team is currently trying to drum up excitement for a war with Iran, which would be a disaster.

That was certainly not my intention, but I can easily see how it would be taken that way and I sincerely apologize to anyone who was offended.
