Yeah, there’s a slight crust on the snow by me as well. It definitely seems warmer than the past couple of days, and in deep footprints the snow almost wanted to turn to slush. Great for snowballs and snowmen right now, but I wouldn’t be too surprised if it starts melting soon.
Brrrr, good morning! It’s 19[sup]o[/sup] F here, there’s a ton of snow on the ground, we had a big shot of freezing rain last night so there’s about an inch of crust on top of the snow and things kinda suck! Looks like more’s on the way, too.
This was the scene at 2100 last night–and here’s the same spot this morning. Note that there’s a little bit of wooden stake visible right at the base of my little herb hill that was covered last night–the rain packed things down a bit.
The cats are less than impressed–Stiggs, who’s an indoor/outdoor kitty was totally not loving the conditions last night, and has yet to step foot outside today. I’m really hoping he’ll just accept reality and use the emergency litter box in the bathroom. Pratchett, who’s only allowed out with supervision, thought he wanted to go out this morning, but after checking the conditions, learning about snow crust and surveying the scene, he elected to get his fluffy butt back indoors.
C’mon, you slackers–post some pics! After all, it’s SNOWPOCALYPSE '08!!11! We have to document this shit…
…and it just started snowing again.
It started snowing here again about an hour ago.
It’s been snowing here all night and since I got up and shoveled the driveway. Now it’s thickened up considerably.
I’ve got pictures, but the camera battery just died. Will recharge and post.
It’s still snowing…
Shee-it. The P-I now sez we can expect another six inches.
It’s dumping down snow here again too. This is so unlike December in the Pacific Northwest.
I’m socked in with my girlfriend. We went to the grocery yesterday and loaded up for a long stay. The line at the checkout was ridiculous, an hour deep; everybody else had the same thought. The clerk said it had been like that since 9:30 in the morning.
It’s coming down again like gangbusters here in Wallingford.
Here’s to hoping the power stays on…
I’m glad I have a generator. But I hope the power stays on too.
Is that what you call it?
Got it in one.
Heh! That’s what I thought. I moved to Tacoma while in third grade, back in '72, and got the hell out in '91.
It’s still snowing. Holy cow. Feels like '96…
More pictures here.
Just for giggles, here’s a link to the Seattle traffic cams.
I can’t believe how hard it’s still snowing! My husband just got back from a walk to the store to get Christmas-cookie baking supplies. I’d already scheduled vacation time for this week, so I’m staying home with the kiddo, but hubby is a barista and has to be at work at 4:30am tomorrow! Luckily, it’s only a short walk away.
My grandfather was supposed to be flying up today to my aunt & uncle’s house in Kirkland so they could all fly out tomorrow to see my cousins in Virginia, but it looks like that’s not going to be possible.
As long as the power stays on, we’re in good shape. I’m going to decorate the tree and then get started on my baking!
It’s snowing gangbusters here. Unfortunately, I’ll have to work tomorrow, unless the command decides to curtail ops. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
As so often happens, the Perfect Master has the perfect commentary: kaniktshaq moritlkatsio atsuniartoq.
Another 3-7 inches predicted overnight. I know that in many parts of the country this would be a pittance, but to the dog-faced flatlanders hereabouts it’s a big deal.
I actually went out and measured the snow just now. I have eight inches on my front lawn. Keep in mind the little rugrats next doors had packed a good amount of the previous snow down because they had tromped all through it.
Meridian Ave (Hwy 161) is white with snow well stacked up on the sides from the plows and sand trucks.
Yep, gonna be a REAL fun commute tomorrow at 6:00 am.
Or 0530. For 110 miles.
