Forgetting where you came from

This person is probably has narcissistic personality. This people are not good. Always trying to be better than you, always taking credit for shit they didn’t do, condesending, belittling mother fuckers. You help them, confide in them, they pretend to be understanding and will end up stabbing you in the back.

YES! This aspect of her personality is a big surprise to everyone in HR. She’s not a gossip and she doesn’t talk about people behind their back. (Like I’ve done here. Gulp. Sorry.) So no one had any idea how she felt about her co-workers. She was close-mouthed and reticent, not a blabbermouth, essential qualities in a job where confidentiality is important.

I’ve thought about her more over the last couple of days, after reading over everyone’s responses, and I wonder if we’ve taken advantage of her, and maybe even made things worse.

Since she never appeared to be upset after firing someone, we gradually turned almost all of it over to her. The only time the HR manager gets involved is if he thinks there might be a lawsuit.

Maybe we should think about having her do some of the more pleasant parts of the job.

And being a control freak can have positive results. She and our nicest HR person both got new puppies at the same time. Guess which one is housebroken, and which one is still peeing all over the carpet.

PunditLisa - thanks for explaining. I feel better now.

And farmer – I almost choked when you wrote “not good”. This is her favorite expression. I hear her saying it all day long, after looking at applications, or hearing about someone violating a shop rule. “Not good, this is not good.”

But she hasn’t done any real backstabbing, unless you count the incident with the files. She would see that as bad behavior that an upstanding person wouldn’t engage in. She’s really hard to figure out.

She really does seem more and more like Javert – there are no shades of gray. And she’s really hard on herself if she thinks she fucked up. She’d die before she’d think of blaming it on someone else. She’d be more likely to pour gasoline on herself and light a match.

Yeah it’s just personal experience for me though. I’ve dealt with a person somewhat like that but different ya know?
