If you’re a former government employee working in the private sector, read on.
I’m about to leave the federal government after 11.5 years and I admit it, I’m a bit apprehensive.
I hate the job I’m in now because it makes me feel useless, tired and like my brain power is melting away. I know that going to the private sector is a good move, but this morning when I announced that I’ll be leaving I got a few messages with an undertone of “You’ll be baaaaaack…”
Please tell me something that will alleviate my feelings of paranoia.
No second thoughts. No looking back. But I could use a little support. Thanks.
You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say will be misquoted, then used against you.
Canth, that’s what my Chief said when I left the Navy. Don’t feel bad. People that say that either totally love their job or are putz’s who stay only because of the benefits.
good luck! The private sector is just as good! I hope you love your new job!
In any event…don’t listen to them, hon! Admittedly, I’m trying to switch from a contractor position into the government right now, but I know many people who did the reverse trip, and they are ALL happier. (And yes, I have a good reason for trying the government now for a job instead of the private sector…) So good luck!!!
