Right, so the precedent has already been set here. Trump’s casual attitude towards sexual assault came up during the campaign but the public decided that Hillary Clinton’s fucking emails were more important in terms of recreational outrage. So as regards a candidate having sexual assault allegations against them, it’s not a bug, it’s a feature (see also that creep Kavanaugh) and nothing can be done about it (again, Kavanaugh) so it is a waste of time to expect anything from it. Even if Joe Biden is 100% guilty and admits it on TV just like Trump did, it is not sufficient in these hyper-partisan times to end his political career. As long as Joe doesn’t delete any of his emails he’ll be fine.
Stop saying this couldn’t have happened. It’s bad for abuse survivors to hear claims dismissed like some people above have. Don’t judge how people will respond to being attacked like that, they often don’t come forward immediately.

No, but minus a time machine it’s a difficult thing for someone set up as an intentional smear of a Presidential candidate, that far in advance.
It’s certainly a curious case.
Trump has a certain pattern of behavior and a profligate supply of such accusations. Whether any one particular accusation is true or not, it doesn’t matter due to the sheer quantity. Statistically it’s impossible for him to be innocent of all of the accusations.
For Biden, while there’s no doubting that he’s got a certain paternalistic handsiness, it has so far seemed more sexist than sexual.
It’s a bit strange to pick one crazy lady, out of the middle of nowhere, and start forcibly fingering her when you’ve never done so before nor since, and without provocation.
Doesn’t mean that he didn’t, of course.

Even more amazing is how hatred of Sanders will cause you to ignore any bit of corroboration that surfaces about this story. You may be willing to ignore and poo poo everything coming out, but the Republicans won’t.
This is the kind of thing that could get Trump reelected. Trump supporters don’t care what he is accused of and will vote for him anyway. But folks who are anti-Trump and were willing to hold their nose and vote for Biden just to get rid of Trump may not be as willing to do so to vote for someone with a credible sexual assault allegation against them.

What the hell else are we supposed to do? Just seethe in impotent hatred for him? He’s the nominee. Nobody else is going to replace him. I AGREE that he is a really horrible shitty candidate, but he’s the only one we’ve got. You know what else? With each successive woman who makes a big public show of dredging up sexual misconduct allegations from decades ago, the whole country collectively gets more and more “decades-old-allegation-fatigued.” The time to address the issue was when it happened. Call me whatever you want, I simply don’t give a fuck anymore when a woman accuses someone of doing something sexually inappropriate before I was born.
People will still vote for him hopefully. But if it’s true it was extremely selfish of him to run, knowing this could torpedo the party.
The fear is this will alienate enough voters who don’t like either candidate, giving trump an edge.

Tell me about it. I don’t think anyone here would accuse me of being conservative, but when I was in college, “social justice” referred to helping people who didn’t have anything to eat, a place to stay, victims of violence, people living in third world countries etc. Someone going broke and losing everything they have because they got sick and couldn’t afford to get treatment.
