That did not go unnoticed, and he gave the place back. Then overtook fairly.
I remember it being obvious at the time.

This, unfortunately, is going to end up as one of those bits of misinformation that never goes away–Grosjean didn’t say that, the Haas engineer on the radio said it, presumably before the replay aired.
Possibly from the Magnussen/Gasly incident which didn’t make the broadcast, but MAG got a 10-second penalty for.
The best ones definitely are but if you don’t crash now and again you aren’t trying.
You can totally watch F2 on the ESPN app. I’m not sure about live, though. But I watched the replay of race 1 on Saturday.
Without watching the race again, I believe it was either from the Grosjean crash or from the Verstappen/Ricciardo crash
Never thought I’d say it, but me too.
I’m kind of unhappy with the results, but a 2nd for Kimi is pretty cool.
Thanks, good to know. I couldn’t find it using the ESPN app on Roku, maybe I need to try it on my tablet or PC.
I’m using xbox one, for the record.
Caught out again! DVR decided to record the Sunday night airing.
Here I was sitting on the couch, unable to sleep since 4am. I decide to check if the race is on somewhere else.
At 6:50. Missed it by 45 minutes. I was able to force the DVR to catch the 4:30 airing. A little better, but not much.
Grosjean does not belong in F1. What the fuck was that? :head shaking thing:
Someone needs to put their foot down.
I don’t know. You could see how he backed off when Magnussen got a bit twitchy, then tried to save the car and spun the wheels. It should take more than two bad races in a row to totally write someone off.
More’s the pity because there have been some promising signs from Haas this season.
I thought he sucked back in the GP2 days. Someone else should be driving that car.
Grosjean has previous.
Monaco, despite all the drama, was actually pretty damn boring.
yep. It looks great, it *feels *great, as a test of individual drivers it really works.
As a race, it is cack. When you have drivers such as Hamilton and Alonso saying it is one of their most boring races ever you should take notice.
Hamilton had his engine turned right down from very early on. Ricciardo was mechanically compromised for most of the race and yet still didn’t have to seriously defend against Vettel. Verstappen started from the back in the fastest car by far and ran as long as he could be yet came to a crashing halt around position 9/10 and couldn’t make any real progress in the last 50 laps.
That’s the real killer, when the fastest car with a very quick driver (who doesn’t mind putting a bit of stick about) in an attacking window cannot make any progress for 50 laps, it isn’t going to make for an exciting race.
But what do you do? how do you spice it up? divide it into two races with grid places reversed?
Or…now I think about it.
Run the qualifying and award half race points for positions 1-10, then reverse the grid for the race itself and another half-points for positions 1-10 on the day. You can bet that drivers would prefer to take certain points on the qualifying day and then scramble for what they can get in the race itself.
It would, of course, mean multiple crashes on the run down to Saint Devote off the start with those slower cars being gobbled up by the back-markers. Perhaps a rolling start?
I’m not sure you do fix Monaco, not with anything resembling the current cars.
I think Formula E will be able to run the full circuit starting with next season’s cars, if they can put on a good show, leave it to them. If they can’t do it either, then maybe it’s time for it to go onto the history pile.
Every year I watch Monaco, I think, “Wow, I just watched the historic races at Monaco a few days earlier, and they were a hoot.” Which makes me wonder if we could have spec racing, where all the F1 drivers get identical, smaller cars at Monaco, in which passing is possible, and remove the race from the Championship, but let it stand alone as a solo achievement. It would tell us a lot about the true talents of each driver. Each team can have their own livery, and pit stops should still be held.
It’s a far fetched idea, but without widening the circuit, and without long, hard braking zones, we’re not going to see overtaking (and I honestly don’t see how they can add the long flat-out sections to make that happen).
Monaco lacks the potential to offer meaningful DRS sector or braking zone passing.
.
It’s hard to see The Powers That Be ever changing the Monaco race in any meaningful way, but it’s hard to see it ever being a good race, either.
I’ve long wondered what the designers and engineers would come up with if there was a top-level, open-wheel series without wings or other means of generating massive downforce. Seems like there’d be less of a problem with turbulence, and longer braking zones, both of which would make for more passing opportunities. Monaco is already a pretty slow circuit, I think, so maybe the downforce isn’t the issue.
It’ll never happen, but how well would a modern F1 car get around Monaco if they had to take the wings off for just this one race?
