Formula 1 2022

I’m on board with this. I never cared for him. He’s always been an Ass.

If I were Hamilton, I’d fall back to asking Nelson how many world championships he has and referring to him with terms such as “irrelevant” and “has-been”. He’s not worth much more than derision at this point.

It doesn’t seem that Ecclestone will ever grow tired of reminding us of what a useless pile of shit he is. He was worthless when he was managing F1 as well. If he’s senile, he’s been that way for decades.

Woo Hoo! Ferrari on Pole, and Carlos getting his FIRST one! I was watching Qualy and still did not see that coming.

But I think Max is going to crush everyone tomorrow. Maybe lap everybody up to sixth place?

Isn’t Silverstone where Verstappen tried to drive Hamilton back and found out last year? Few things could make me happier in Formula 1 as a part two.

Holy crap! What a race! I hardly ever clap at a tv screen, but I did this time. Several times.

Safety car screws Hamilton yet again,I can’t help but notice.

Epic race, some of the battling at the end was as good as I’ve ever seen. That race had almost everything…

And a miracle that Zhou escaped unharmed:

Yep. I’m not a Hamilton fan, but I yelled for him when he passed both Perez and Leclerc. Great race.

And though it was for nothing, Verstappen’s pass of Sainz at the first start was nice.

That was quite possibly the most gloriously chaotic race I’ve ever seen that wasn’t run in the rain (or Baku). I am still not sure how Zhou’s car wound up upside down even after watching multiple replays.

Replays also did not show the protesters that invaded the track, also on lap one. This was fortunately after the red flag or else the cars would have been passing (and possibly hitting) them at speed.

Yeah, that was spectacular. I mean, it flipped, slid along upside down for like 200m. Then did a complete roll again when it hit the barrier. Really goes to show how good the safety shell is on those things, and the halo, that he’s still alive at all never mind well enough to talk to the press and return to watch the race finish.

I saw an image and they were sat on the tarmac strung out across the half the width of a bend. That could easily have resulted in a fatality for one of them, a driver, or a marshal. Very stupid.

Best race in decades. And a Ferrari won, of course!

Looked like he was sliding upside-down, and the wheels dug into the gravel at just the wrong time to flip him up and over the tire barrier. Just a one-in-a-thousand thing to miss the tires and hit the secondary barrier. Hooray for the halo, the safety cell, and all the rest.

What do you have to do to get a penalty for forcing someone off the track? On the last lap, Schumacher was alongside Verstappen through a corner. Max drifted so wide on the exit that he was halfway over the line; Schumacher was completely off the track. I know there’s precious little chance they’ll punish Verstappen in a case like that, but what do the actual rules say for that situation?

Semi related…

Just got home and watching Qualifying.

I’ve thought it before, but after Hamilton’s crash, I’ll just say it out loud: Verstappen fans are the Trump voters of F1.

Is that why they wear orange?

It’s true. I saw the fans push Lewis into that wall.

Checo made the most of the sprint. Both McLarens managed to move up, and Zhou had a decent result considering his pit lane start.

If the Ferraris race each other, I predict two Red Bulls on the podium. And perhaps a Mercedes.

That was some pretty spectacular Ferrari-works! And pretty damn poor marshalling. Did you see that guy with the fire extinguisher put it down and run off the other way for some reason? What the fuck was that??? I wonder how many thousands of dollars burned up every second?

I saw that and had the same reaction. On one hand, everything that burned on the Ferrari was probably already trash, but thankfully Carlos himself wasn’t on fire.

Ferrari didn’t fight each other and deserved a better result for Sainz. And honestly, I was thinking of Russell when I said a Merc would podium, but of course I completely underestimated Hamilton. You would think I would learn.
