May as well start the new thread.
Hamilton has already crashed a Ferrari. Who does he think he is, Lance Stroll?
Edited to add at least it was a 2023 car.

Hamilton doesn’t make mistakes. This is just him pushing the minutes to see where they are.
McLaren is arguing for full-time stewards, even offering to pay part of the cost, since the FIA is just too poor to improve motorsport.
Best suggestion I’ve seen is three teams of four stewards on a rotating basis - one on site, one for off-site review, one on break/filling in for illness. The only suggestion I have is to hire vindictive and creative tyrants. Someone talks some shit about a decision, just go off. Sulayem is already making a joke of the organization, might as well go full heel.
Yep. Can’t know where the invisible line is till you cross it.
I read somewhere Hamilton’s crash was caused by car damage from a bump. I don’t remember where I read it and I’m too lazy to search for it so I dunno how true it is.
Just a couple weeks to go! Woo Hoo! Getting excited!
cracks beer it’s time. First annoying preyap of the season.
God damn, what a great opener! The real star was the weather. But it’s quite clear that McLaren have a rocketship.
Again my better judgement, I tried to watch this live. As expected, I fell asleep only to wake up for the last lap. Did I dream or did Hülkenberg actually finish better than both Ferraris? Guess I get to watch this race later at a decent hour to see the details.
I’m just thankful for no Red Flags. The aborted start was bad enough, but I really don’t like to spend 3 hours of watching inaction. I used to think wet races were kinda fun, but now I find them tedious.
Simply amazed that Oscar got back in the race after his little Agricultural Exploration. Those were some steady nerves on display right there.
Got to dust off the phrase “Rookie Move”. To paraphrase Tom Hanks, “There’s No Crying in Formula One!”
I still love wet races, because, as they say, they’re a great leveler, and anything can happen. Yes, long red flags are a pain, but I rarely watch live (F1 TV, $85/year, worth every penny), so skipping over them is not a big deal.
I’m annoyed that Ferrari still hasn’t got its strategy together. I agree with Crofty (although Brundle disagreed) that they should have kept LeClerc and Hamilton out on slicks after the safety car. I think those two could have handled the drying track, and possibly been on the podium, or at least higher up than they ended the race.
I just finished season 7 of Netflix’s Drive to Survive, and one of the most stunning things I got from it was how scared Lando is of driving in heavy rain.
In the final episode, when the heavy rain started at last year’s race in Sao Paolo, Lando told his engineer it was too dangerous and that they should box. When asked why, he said, “It’s just starting to rain a lot. I don’t know,” adding, “I’m gonna fucking die.” He sounded really scared.
Lando came into the pits (probably unnecessarily), giving the win to Max.
Just before that, the show had Christian Horner saying “Like in any sport, all the great champions step up at the big points, and they have a mental resilience and toughness.” The producers were clearly making it out that Max is the mentally strong one, and Lando is not. (FYI, my quotes are taken straight from the captions on the show.)
Now, I’ve worked in film and video production, so I understand how editing can create a storyline or distort its true nature, so maybe the producers are doing Lando a disservice. But if they haven’t manufactured those quotes out of whole cloth, it shows a level of fear and anxiety that I wouldn’t have expected from a world-champion-level F1 driver.
I get that some drivers are better in the rain than others, but I really couldn’t believe the fear Lando seemed to have in that race. It takes him down a notch in my estimation.
In a different era, Lauda retired from the race in Japanese rain, handing The Championship to Hunt.
Didn’t take Lewis long to get the hang of his new ride!
Great result for ham in the sprint! But a bit disappointing result in the race. Not bad though, by any means. But what a masterclass by Oscar!
Ouch!
Boring-Ass race, but yes, this kid is really impressive. So calm, controlled and methodical.
Put him in a Ferrari, and I’ll pull for him to take the Championship.
I love Sazuka. But man, that was quite uneventful. And Tsunoda looked promising during practice, but yikes. Finishing 12 when your teammate wins is not encouraging. I guess a tiny bit better than Lawson did in his stint at Red Bull. But that’s a low bar.
Ha! Even in the cool down room, the top three were watching the highlight replays and they were all “that’s all that happened?”
No pay for Mayländer today, though it’s always good to see a clean first lap.
I had to look up who that is. Nice little job he’s got there.
