Formula 1 2024

I find it hard to believe that GM couldn’t supply an F1 powerplant from day one.

You are far too kind, My Friend.

That would be a huge learning curve. I can see the wisdom in buying an engine while they learn how to build a car. Once they get a little of that under their belt, start developing an engine.

I’m also not sure when the engine specs will change next. If the rules change for 2028, maybe they figure it’s too much investment for something that will only be usable for only two years.

Their involvement in so many other forms of racing makes me think that it would be trivially easy for them. It’s gotta be about money.

Everything I hear about F1 makes it sound like a whole different beast from other racing series; wings that are designed to flex under load, two-second pit stops, and cars that get more TLC than a premature baby. And the other teams aren’t going to hold your and teach you all that stuff.

HEY! That’s illeagle!

Yeah. It’s money.

Wings that are designed to flex under load as much as possible without getting caught.

There we go! Happy Thanksgiving, My Friend!

It’s definitely the money. Consider that an F1 powerplant costs like 20 million for the season…which is like the entire budget for an Indy car season.

That sprint race was like kissing your sister.

Well that race turned into a bit of a clusterfuck. Will F1 be looking for a new race director again so soon?

I expected Alonso to get a penalty for an unsafe release when he pitted under the safety car, but it didn’t seem to be an issue. The whole pack was going through the pit lane to avoid the debris on the track; do the unsafe release rules not apply in that circumstance?

One of the most Shit races I’ve seen, and I was at Indy when… Oh nevermind.

The season should end in Brazil. Nothing interesting or important happens after Brazil.

I saw this again on the rebroadcast, and there was no talk from the announcers about an unsafe release. So, what, the pit crew can just just let their driver leave the box abreast of another car in pit lane? Not only that, but it looked like Magnussen was a nose ahead as the cars were driving through the pits, then Alonso pulled ahead, which seems like passing under a yellow.

I did a web search, but among all the other chaos of that race I can’t find a word about it.

Saw some click-bait (but didn’t click) that says Perez is out. My internet is shit today, so I’ll have to verify later, but IT’S ABOUT DAMN TIME!

Not confirmed but it’s obvious he’s on his way out. His performances and his concentration have completely fallen apart.

The stewards were the star of the show yesterday.

That’s not a good thing.

It’s been a long season for the commentators; they were making Blackadder jokes during the race.

Somehow, my DVR managed to foul up all broadcasts of this race. Still working on finding the end…

My Bold Prediction: Carlos will return to Ferrari at some later date

The replay was supposed to start at 2pm. My DVR starts on time. I get an hour and a half of Axe Throwing. First hour of the race.

I start watching last night, and when it abruptly cuts off around lap 28, live TV comes on…

An Actual Fucking Mullet Competition. At first, I thought it was some kind of joke ad or something. But no. An Actual Fucking Mullet Competition.

And then I thought about Bottas…

I didn’t record it, but I did set a reminder to watch at that time. When I saw the schedule was messed up, I switched to something else.

There was another rebroadcast at 11:00. I caught the last few minutes of cherry pit spitting, and then the race.
