Formula 1 Thread

:+1: to Fernando Alonso, who managed to hold off Hamilton long enough so that his teammate Esteban Ocon could take the checkered flag.

Vettel DQ’d from 2nd place! Not enough fuel left for a sample. Hamilton promoted to 2nd! Gains another point off max.

I understand ‘rules is rules’, but this stinks like horse-shit.

I saw the re-broadcast. That restart with just Hamilton on the grid was bizarre. You can’t really make a grid with only one thing; it was more of a starting dot.

I wonder what he was thinking when everybody behind him went into the pits.

The Aston Martin driver was found to have insufficient fuel in his car at the end of the race. Formula 1’s technical regulations require teams to be able to provide a one-litre sample of fuel for testing. Only 300ml could be extracted from Vettel’s car.

Holy shit! What a seriously shady way to get robbed. Wow. I’m guessing Hamilton isn’t gloating about that podium…

You’re saying this like AM were somehow unaware of the rule. Anyway, there’s an appeal in progress, I understand.

Something like “Fuuuuuuuuuuuck!!!”, no doubt.

Yay! Back to racing, at the Mighty Spa! I was startin’ to get loopy there with no F1.

Something happened pretty cool in Practice 1 today: The announcers shut the fuck up for nearly a whole lap of Hamilton’s. You could hear his car and the Ferrari that was following. Nice! Hope this becomes a trend!

But it will never happen. Not when Croft takes over the mic.

They’ve had the “audio up” laps for a couple years now. But yeah, crofty usually takes half a lap to finish his thought and shut the fuck up.

I usually watch the FP sessions with the audio off, and cranking some good music.

Fuck…

In my book, you’ve been doing it right.

Interesting Qually session. DVR stopped recording before the end, unfortunatly.

Well, in over 40 years of following this sport, that is something I’ve never seen.

The fuck was that stupidity?

Farcical.

In 40+ years of watching F1 it has never been so obvious that racing was impossible.

Half points for two laps behind the safety car? balls to that.

They did it so they could avoid refunds to fans and sponsors etc. What bullshit.

Congrats to George Russell on his first F1 podium finish.

I guess.

:man_shrugging:

I mean, he did earn it. His qualifying performance was just magical. But yeah, that was an awful decision by F1.

But that is the difference between F1 and all the other lesser series: You race in the conditions you have.

Shoulda cut them loose, and if 4 minute lap times were the result, so be it. If only 3 cars finished, so be it. Lauda pulled out in Japan. Seb probably would have stopped. But nobody was gonna die, with decreased speeds. It would have been known by all it would be a half-pointer. Let them race. This isn’t fucking baseball. Rain be damned!

All the fans were screwed.

I am drunk, by the way.

That explains your previous post then, setting them off racing at Spa in those conditions is very much a recipe for potential disaster and definitely an option that looks good when under the influence. In the cold and sober light of day? not so much.

I’ll let you know when that happens.

Don’t hold yer breath.
