I use the Forum Jump at the bottom of each forum page ALOT. It’s the easiest way to get from forum to forum. Annoyingly it is only located at the bottom of the page and even though I’ve asked for a second forum jump to be inserted at the top of the page, the fact that I’ve been waiting 5+ years has kinda gotten me into the habit of having to scroll ALL the way down to jump forums.
For quite some time the Dope software was updated to no longer showing 50 threads on the first page of every forum. I don’t know how long this has been, but back when there were only 50 threads scrolling to the bottom was annoying but not horribly cumbersome. Now that the forum cutoff is measured in days as opposed to threads that scrolling length as increased 4 fold. Currently there are 174 threads on the Cafe Society page’s forum default which is a LONG WAY to scroll when there’s only 5 or 6 new comments and I want to jump to the Game Room.
Long story short, can we either get a second forum jump or an option to limit the number of threads displayed on one page and reinstall a “go to page” function? Now, maybe there’s a setting or option that I’m missing but these changes make the board less usable.
In the User Control Panel (User CP), under “Options and Settings/Edit Options” you can select the number of posts to show on a page. The default is “use forum default” but you can set it to a value of 40–not quite 50, but close–if you so desire.
I’m not sure a keyboard shortcut is a huge improvement since I tend to browse one-handed (get your minds out of the gutter!) with mouse only. Seems like a second forum jump is still the best solution but I’ll see if I can get used to using the End button.
How many buttons does your mouse have? If more than the basic two-plus-scroll, you could bind one of them to “End.”
FWIW, I’m usually browsing with my chin propped up on my left hand, too. Once you get used to them, Home/End will be such second nature you won’t even think about then anymore.
