In the film FOTR, just before the fellowship attempts the Caradhras climb they are overflown by Saruman’s crows. When they first spot the crows they can’t quite make out what they are. Then Legolas exclaims, “Graboids from Dublin!” or something like that. Huh???
Crebain from Dunland. Crebain means crows, and Dunland (west-land) is the area west of the southern Misty Mountains, where the Dunlendings (the Wild Men who burn the villages of Rohan in the Two Towers) come from.
I knew someone would beat me to it.
The passage in the book actually has Aragorn, not Legolas, identifying the crows as crebain:
Thanks! But I still Graboids would have been more fun.
“Graboids from Dublin” - perfect band name.
On first viewing, I thought he said Crab lice from Dublin.
I thought he said “Rare steaks from Dublin”.
