found wallet from the 70's

bumpity bump bump

I believe I have found the wallet owner in the Pacific Northwest. Waiting for confirmation.

Walloon = “The Man!”

PS - Walloon, I did reply to your last email you sent me, but for some reason the emails I send to you get bounced back. Anyway, waiting to hear if the person you contacted responds to you.

This is an awesome thread. I’m sure I’m not the only person who is waiting on the edge of their seat to find out what happens.

For those holding their breaths, I’m still waiting for a response from an intermediary to the person we believe is the wallet owner. I don’t have direct contact information to him.

So Walloon sent me a possible hit today, going to call Fri or over the weekend. Will post an update after the call.

And Walloon, my replies to your emails keep bouncing back as undeliverable. Not sure why… shrug

Woman, actually.

Man actually, if you’ve missed all the posts over the years where I mention attending an all-boys high school or belonging to a college fraternity, or violating men’s room urinal etiquette. Or Eve, who knows me, posting in her unsparing honesty that I look like Ewan McGregor and Dylan McDermott had a baby.

Consider this…

An intact wallet from the 1970’s is an intellectually and culturally “interesting” artifact… A wallet is essentially a "snap shot’ of a person’s life and the times in which it was “lost”.

Consider offering it to a local museum. I worked at a museum once, and we were donated a wallet from the 1940’s that had been found at the bottom of a box of “junk” in a garage. Its contents were facsinating (ration stamps, hand typed ID /drivers liscence, etc)…

Just a thought

You can add me to the list of “eagerly awaiting a response”. This is super cool!

OK… so, Walloon found two listings (same ph#) for the guy in Iowa. Called, # has been disconnected. 411 says no listings for that last name anywhere in Iowa at all. And another search online found the same name in the same city, but with a different middle initial. So not sure it’s the right person.

Also, Walloon, I keep getting:
Delay reason: SMTP error from remote mail server after end of data:
every time I try to send emails to you…

Anyway, any other ideas?

There are some cool items in the wallet. Tempted to scan them and post them online. But not a nice thing to do if the guy is still alive… =/

(This in reference to Lotus’ post…)

Vehddy intahersting!

So much email problems… hasn’t personal messaging been restored on our new Dope server?

If it’s the same first name and same last name, with only the middle initial different, that might be the wallet-owner’s son, or possibly a cousin/nephew. Why not try calling that person and asking if they know the wallet-owner?

I frequently use different middle initials when filling out forms, both paper and online. Helps me track who is selling my personal information.

Based on Walloon’s suggestions, I’m going to contact the American Legion on Mon (not the foreign legion as I mistakenly posted originally). He also gave me a link to a university where a man with the same name works, will try there Mon as well.

WIll report when I have more info…

Thanks for keeping us updated.
