Not a huge fan of either of these shows, but Last Man on Earth and Brooklyn 9-9 are pretty popular, I thought.
Netflix should be trying to grab rights.
Also canceled The Mick. No idea what that is.

Brooklyn 99 was consistently funny. Not happy to see it go. From what I read Fox had to make room for football in the fall.
It was also consistently screwed around by the network. I missed a good chunk of last season because they changed the time slot, so my record timer didn’t see it.
Agreed. And Andre Braugher was the most consistently funny actor on the show. He deserves all the accolades and more.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine was probably the most solid, dependable sitcom to come along in a long time. That really is a shame. Hopefully Netflix or Hulu or one of the other streaming options picks it up, and the slow steady march to network television becoming useless and disappearing for good will continue.
I actually enjoyed The Mick. It wasn’t amazing or anything, but it took chances, didn’t take itself too seriously, and was always good for some laughs.
I watched the first few episodes of Last Man on Earth, and enjoyed it well enough, but it never really clicked with me. The bummer is, my friend had just become the prop master of the show this past season. I guess he’ll be looking for new work.
I’m sad. Nine-nine is one of the best comedies in years, and (for better or worse) Last Man on Earth is like nothing else on TV, and I’m quite fond of it.
I’m not sure if the final episode of LMOE has aired yet (I’m a bit behind on my DVR), but reportedly it ends on a big cliffhanger. I do hope either or both shows get picked up elsewhere.
I’m floored! Brooklyn 99 is a great show. My dad was a cop, he died years ago, but he always loved Barney Miller. When I watch 99 I sometimes think how much he’d love it.
Of course Fox cancelled these shows. They realized that I was up to ~8 shows I watched and realized I was wasting too much time on TV. So thank you Fox, for cancelling shows I enjoyed in order to help me cut back on my TV viewing. I can guarantee you, Fox, that whatever you put in their place next season will not be watched, and I will be one hour richer for ~22 weeks/year. /s
Wow, I really like all these shows. Of then, I thought, right now, The Mick is the best. Why give up so early? It’s only season 2, is it that expensive? I’m an X-Files fan, but I surely thought that it doesn’t need another season. Perhaps I’m the only one who thinks this.
I think you’re the only one to think that. I think of the three, The Mick is the weakest show.
Yes it was. But the other 2 were very unique shows that have a good track record. I hope another network picks them up.
I never thought I’d be thanking Fox for anything but there you go!
I’m a big fan of Brooklyn nine nine. I would love to see more seasons, but 5 years is a pretty decent run, and the show did not have great numbers, about 2 million viewers. Excellent stories, a lot of heart, and they did not seem to be running out of ideas. Recent cold opening clip - Backstreet Boys
Actually struggling to hit 2 mil viewers this season. I wonder if part of it is due to the will -they-won’t-they with Jake and Amy being resolved people just tuned out. Anyways, as you said, 5 years is pretty decent.
André Braugher is one of the funniest people on tv, PERIOD! I often had to pause watching “Brooklyn 99” to rewind something he had said or did because it was so funny. I tried to figure out what made him so funny - I think it’s because he understands that comedy is serious business - he’d say his lines dead straight, and he has a very serious face on top of that. It never failed to crack me up.
That show has the best cold opens in TV history, bar none.
I’m sure they’ll replace Brooklyn 99 with another heartwarming show full of smart-ass kids and idiot parents. There are never enough of those on television!
I come into this thread with surprise and sadness, but I confess I’m a part of the problem.
I loved 99 and set it to record a season or 2 ago, but it since got lost on my DVR and I never picked it back up. It was one of the most consistently funny programs I would watch, and I caught the occasional rerun and laughed just as hard.
I’m sad to see it go, but given that I loved the show and still didn’t watch it means I don’t have much of a leg to stand on in my complaints.
I have a few B99’s on my DVR as well (4 or 5 I think). I wonder if the more procedural aspect of the show hurt it here. Sure it had some overarching plots, but those were generally far into the background.
It’s hard to imagine a colder cold opening; this was one of their best, and they are really damned good.
What I read was that their live numbers were awful, but their plus-seven numbers were decent. I’ve consistently enjoyed the show, and am also said to see it go.
